an invitation sets the tone for your event, so you will need to have an idea of what type of atmosphere you want to create for your guests. we can help you create a unique look or theme that can be carried throughout all of your wedding details.
an easy place to start is to look at the season that your wedding will take place in. let that inspire your colors, graphics and even your fonts! other places to draw inspiration from are your interests and culture.
these are some things to consider when designing your wedding stationery:
• save the dates–this has become a common practice in wedding planning, especially if you are having a destination wedding or expect a lot of out of town guests. these can be sent out as early as 6 months before the event, giving people plenty of time to make travel plans
• shower invitations–it is typically not the bride’s responsibility to order these, but you can certainly make a suggestion as to where to get them so they tie in with the rest of your event items
• your wedding colors–these will be carried throughout the event
• your wedding location–will it be outdoors, on a beach, at a ski lodge, or in a traditional church?
• your wedding theme–this makes your wedding that much more personal if you tie in to a particular theme
• the time of year–will your wedding be in the summer? snowflakes are probably out then!
• how many you will need–remember to order extras for late additions, but only enough to cover the number you will send out, not the total number of PEOPLE invited as everyone will likely not get their own invitation
• what to include–most invitations include the main invitation panel and a response card of some sort. it is very common to include several other items depending on your event. you might consider a menu selection if your hall requires an entree count ahead of time, or a map/directions insert, accomodations for out-of-town guests, or an itinerary of events if it is a destination or weekend-long event. the possiblilites are endless and it’s all up to you!
• reception items–you can continue your theme or look in your place cards or seating chart, table numbers, favors, menus.
• thank you notes–thank your guests in style and leave a lasting impression with a thank you note that coordinates with the rest of the event.
