Frequently Asked Questions for DJ
What music genres are in your collection?
50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, Big Band, Classic Rock, Classical, Country, Dance, Hip Hop, Jazz, Motown, Oldies, Pop, R&B, Rock, Soul, Swing

Do you have liability insurance?
Yes

Describe your DJ style:
Classy, focused on a smooth running event and very knowledgable about music and what gets people dancing.

What is your usual attire?
Normally, we wear a conservative tuxedo with either a red, black or white tie. Of course, if we're doing an outdoor event and the theme is "casual", the bride and groom may want us to wear more relaxed attire to fit in... We wear clothes that match the event.

If you do not have one of the songs pre-requested by the client, do you require that they provide it?
Not normally. In some instance if we can't find the music we give the option of providing the song to be played. In most instances "we already have it" or "can find it".

How many other DJs do you work with?
Loves has a working relationship with about 6 other DJ's, but is primarily has an owner/operator as the main wedding DJ.

What is the minimum amount of time you will DJ for?
Normally, 4 hours minimum.

Is the client able to meet the DJ before booking?
Yes. Loves DJ strongly encourages this. We take a personal approach and you are never treated as "just another gig".

Do you specialize in any ethnic or international events?
We have done Irish, Italian, Polish, Chinese and Latin themed receptions. Always willing to venture into new cultures!

Do you bring your own equipment?
Yes. We invest highly in the best quality equipment. This includes speakers, amps, and yes, we have a cordless microphone standard at each event.

How much time do you usually need to set up? Do you require that the site or client provide a table for you to set up on?
We require at least one-hour access time to the venue for setup prior to the event time. We normally arrive about two hours early. Yes, the site/couple are responsible for providing a table. SETUP is always included (free) in the price quoted.

Do you have any extra space requirements?
Sometimes, but normally "no". For instance, if you need lights, surround sound equipment, then yes.

Do you usually emcee the event or talk between songs?
Yes, we emcee the event as well as work to keep the timeline... We make sure you get all your special events in, and leave time for dancing!

What is your policy on taking breaks? If you require a meal break, do you require that the client provide your meal?
Sometimes. Depending on the length and start time of the event.

Will you arrange for recorded music to play during your breaks?
Yes. Normally, the only break we take is during dinner.

What is your overtime rate?
Pre-paid hours are normally $250 each. Additional hours "at the event" and unplanned are a higher rate.

Do you charge for travel expenses? If yes, how much do you charge?
Not directly. We quote prices based on variables. Location is one. Naturally, a wedding 200 miles away will have a higher quote than 30 miles. But, once quoted, the price will not change based on travel expenses.
