Describe your DJ style:
I'm a younger DJ. I have a lot of experience with teen events and college events. However, I am really starting to focus more on weddings this year.
Is there a limit to the amount of music that can be requested?
No limit. It depends on what you like. Some brides make minimum requests and let me do my thing. Others lay out all the music for me.
What is your usual attire?
For weddings, I wear a tuxedo unless specified otherwise.
If you do not have one of the songs pre-requested by the client, do you require that they provide it?
No, I will purchase any music that I don't have. Music must be available on iTunes or Amazon MP3.
How many other DJs do you work with?
I am the only DJ. I may bring an assistant to help with setup and tear down.
What is the minimum amount of time you will DJ for?
The rate I charge is for 4 hours. If you have an event that shorter than 4 hours, you still need to pay the 4 hour rate.
Is the client able to meet the DJ before booking?
YES. First meeting is free, no commitment required. If you do decide to book me, we will meet again closer to the date of the event to go over specific details.
Can the client submit a do-not-play list?
They can if they wish to. However, do know that I am not a "cheese" DJ. I will not be playing the chicken dance at your wedding reception
Do you bring your own equipment?
Yes.
What (if any) special equipment, such as disco balls or lighting, is offered with your service?
4 Lighting Options:
-Effect Lighting (not recommended for weddings)
-Uplighting
-Dance Floor Washes
-Monogram Projection
How much time do you usually need to set up? Do you require that the site or client provide a table for you to set up on?
Typically between 3-4 hours. However, other arrangements can be made if necessary. I prefer not to rush through setup because I want to take my time to make sure everything is perfect.
I provide my own table.
Do you have any extra space requirements?
My space requirements will depend on the lighting options you choose.
Do you have a sign or banner that you use at events?
I do NOT display a banner at weddings. Your special day is not a time for me to be advertising myself. If someone asks me for a business card, I will give them one.
Do you usually emcee the event or talk between songs?
It all depends on what the bride prefers. Typically, I do emcee the event.
How would you motivate the crowd if no one is dancing?
I have a playlist that is specifically for filling dance floors at wedding receptions. I try to play artists that all ages will dance to (i.e. Michael Franti, Michael Jackson, etc.)
What is your policy on taking breaks? If you require a meal break, do you require that the client provide your meal?
If the client would like to provide me with a meal, I will accept it. However, I do not require a meal.
Will you arrange for recorded music to play during your breaks?
I can do that if necessary.
What is your backup plan in case you become unavailable on the day of the event?
I have NEVER had that happen, and I do not see that happening any time in the near future. However, I do have friends that run other DJ businesses in the area that could fill in for me if that situation were to arise.
Do you book yourself for more than one event in a day?
Typically, no. The only exception would be a daytime wedding reception with a late night graduation party afterwords.
What is your overtime rate?
$35 per half hour
Do you charge for travel expenses? If yes, how much do you charge?
I only charge a small travel expense for events located over 25 miles from my home. The rate is $1.50/mile.
What is the required deposit to secure your services?
Typically I take 1/3 of the total fee as my deposit.
