Spring Lake Bridal Recommends: A great planner.. Always working, analyzing every angle of your wedding, making sure every single detail is perfect. No detail is too small. Custom ceremonies?? Yes, true custom just for you. Not 4 choices in a book, a custom set of magical words, set to the tone of your wedding. After all they couldn't call themselves "Dream Day Weddings" unless it was a Dream Come True.
Cheryl was AMAZING to work with! She was professional and really paid a lot of attention to what the bride and groom wanted for their ceremony! I would HIGHLY recommend her to anyone!
Rev. Hooten performed the wedding of my husband's brother and his wife in June. It was one of the most beautiful ceremonies I'd ever attended. She was terrific.

Frequently Asked Questions for Officiant
What officiant services do you provide?
Interfaith Ceremony, Non-religious Ceremony, Single Religion Ceremony

What religious affiliations do you serve?
Buddhist, Christian (no denomination), Christian - Baptist, Christian - Catholic, Christian - Episcopalian, Christian - Lutheran, Christian - Methodist, Christian - Mormon, Christian - Orthodox, Christian - Presbyterian, Christian - Quaker, Hindu, Jewish, Muslim, Shinto

Can you accommodate the hearing impaired?
Yes

Are you willing to perform a ceremony at a non-religious site?
YES! We travel just about anywhere and will go to any location...I've done weddings at beaches, parks, churches and chapels, golf courses, rental halls, hotel's, B & B's, country clubs, private homes...at any location I'd be honored to Officiate over your wedding celebration!

Are you flexible in the wording used throughout the ceremony, including the vows?
Absolutely, my specialty is writing custom ceremonies for couple's. You have complete creative control and approve of every word said; your ceremony is not completed until it's perfect for the two of you!

Do you allow the couple to write their own vows, if desired?
YES! I encourage couple's to personalize every bit of the ceremony; people should walk away from wedding remarking how much it reflected the two of you and not scratching their heads (or worse yet yawning!)

Do you have a list of readings pre-selected, from which the couple must choose?
NO! There are no MUST'S with me! However, I will provide you with a wonderful selection of readings to help spark your imagination.

Do you require that premarital counseling be done?
No, I do not require my couple's to undergo any counseling.

Are you willing to perform pre-ceremony rehearsals?
YES! A rehearsal is an essential part of a successful wedding ceremony. My rehearsals typical last 2 - 3 times longer then the actual ceremony; we're not done until everyone has it.

Additional Questions and Answers
Do you use a contract?
Yes, I do. As a Professional Officiant's I use one in order to protect myself and you; it also provides a clear understanding of what you can expect from us.

How do we reserve our wedding date with you?
First, contact me via email or phone to see if your date and time is available.
Once you decide to use my services, I will require a signed contract and a non-refundable deposit to hold your day in my calendar. The deposit is deducted from the total cost of your ceremony fee.

Must we meet face to face with you first?
No, it's nice if we can meet first...but it's really up to you.
Some couple's prefer to meet first, other's are ready to send me a signed contract after one phone call or a few email's.

What will happen at our meeting if we DO choose to meet?
The first meeting I consider to be a "meet & greet", we'll just have a casual conversation at a sandwich/coffee shop or restaurant in my local area. It lasts anywhere from 15 - 60 minutes and gives you an opportunity to ask me any questions you might have. We'll discuss the different options I offer and if all goes well sign a contact by the end of the meeting.

What if you are unavailable for our wedding date and time?
I will tell you that when we first speak; if I can't personally perform the ceremony I have 4 male Offician'ts in the area that will perform the custom ceremony I write for you. You can rest assured these ministers will be of the highest quality and very professional (one's even my Dad) They will attend the meet & greet with me, if requested they can also attend the planning session, too. They will also be the ones to conduct your rehearsal and Officiate over your ceremony.

What kind of ceremonies do you perform?
I have performed many different kinds of ceremonies...each one had been special and unique, just like the couple's they were written for. I've done everything from very religious to very contemporary ceremonies and everything in between. I've blended faiths' and cultures, I've done a Pirate Wedding and even a Quaker Wedding on the icy shores of Lake Michigan as well as many Beach Weddings. But all my ceremonies are upbeat and celebratory in nature - I believe a wedding day is a celebration of the love of two people and the ceremonies I write reflect this jubilant attitude.

What time will you arrive at our ceremony?
I arrive a minimum of 30 minutes prior to the start of your ceremony.

How are you different from other wedding Officiant's?
Officiating weddings is more than reciting words and making pronouncements. I don't show up and burry head in a book; I engage you and your guests, I deliver your ceremony with the a rehearsed relaxed style of a polished professional. The unforgettable ceremony that's is written specifically for you will be elegant, appropriate and romantic...it won't leave them snoring in the back row and it won't be the same old replication of evey wedding you've ever seen before.

Do you stay for the rehearsal dinner and/or reception?
Only if you want me too - and even then I may not be able to...
I have been truly blessed and feel honored by the number of couples who have invited me to join them.
If time (and my husband) allows, I would be honored to join you!
However, you are in no way obligated to invite me to your rehearsal dinner or reception!
You won't hurt my feelings if you don't have the budget, space, or inclination to invite me.

What do you wear to our Wedding?
Unless there is a specific clothing request such a a costume or a color theme (an all white wedding for example) I typically wear a black suit for most weddings and for beach weddings I often wear a tea length black dress(see the photo gallery).

Rehearsals are generally much more casual so unless I'm on my way to another wedding, and depending on the weather, usually jeans or a skirt.

Will you travel to my location?
Yes! Or included travel radius is generally about an hour from our home locations but I will travel just about anywhere, and where I won't or can't go one of my male Officiant's will; we can perform weddings in just about any state (or country!) As long as I have someone available and you're will to pay any additional travel fees we can be there.

Tips and Advice
Select your Officiant not only on their price or credentials, but on the way they make you feel. It's just like a first date, usually you'll know within the first few minutes if they are the rights one for you! If you're not comfortable the first time you meet chances are you won't be on the day of the ceremony!   It's YOUR Day and you should have someone who can make you feel at ease and help you to focus on the true meaning of the moment.
