At Cater It Simple, we know you can have an elegant reception that is still affordable.  We have created reception packages, priced for almost any budget, with everything you need for a wonderful reception.  Buffets, chocolate fountains, cookies and cookie favors, appetizer, desserts and custom designed wedding cakes.  Our packages include glass plates and real silverware at no additional upcharge.  We do not charge an up-front gratuity and offer a 20% discount to active military.   We cut our wedding cakes for you with no additional cake-cutting-fee, when purchased with a buffet package.  We're the ones who keep the whole process simple for you.

Do you offer a tasting for potential clients?
We ENCOURAGE samplings and we do not charge for them. They are by appointment only.
 
Are you also able to provide the wedding cake?
Yes, we got our start by making wedding cakes 25 years ago. No cake cutting fee when our cake is purchased with one of our buffets.
 
If a bride decides to bring her own wedding cake, do you have a cake cutting fee? If yes, how much is the fee?
Usually no, but it depends on the reception timeline.
 
Are you licensed to sell alcohol? If yes, where are you licensed?
We are not licensed by choice, but we can assist the bride with securing alcohol services.
 
Do you allow outside alcohol? If yes, what is the corkage fee?
Since we are not licensed we are not permitted to touch alcohol in any way, at any time.
 
Do you provide rentals for items such as linens and flatware?
Glass plates and 'real' silverware are included in our buffet pricing.
 
Are you able to provide your own wait staff?
Our buffet pricing includes staffing required to service the buffet. Add'l wait staff is available for a fee.

A flat price per slice ... we do not charge extra for different cake flavors, fillings or most cake designs.
 
Does the price include the top tier of the cake?
We give our brides a choice! They can save their top tier, as per tradition. Or they can get a coupon for a FREE, FRESH tier on their first anniversary. 95% of the brides are opting for the free fresh cake!
 
Do you offer custom cakes, or do you work with pre-designed styles?
Both.
 
On average, how far in advance of the event do you prepare the cake?
Just 2-3 days, which is the normal time it takes to bake, ice and decorate a multi-tiered towering piece of art for your event!
 
How many cakes do you schedule for a typical weekend?
It depends on the size and logistics of what is being booked. If all I have booked are drop-off cakes, I can do multiple weddings. If I have a large catering (300+ guests), I usually close the date to any other bookings.
 
Will you work with the client's florist to garnish the cake?
Our brides are responsible for providing any florals for the cake, silk or fresh. If using fresh flowers, they need to be non-toxic florals. Cater It Simple will put the flowers on the cake, when the cake is delivered to the venue.
 
What (if any) cake accessories, such as a cake stand or cake cutter, do you rent out?
Since we usually stay and cut the cake, there is no need for rental or deposit fees.
 
Do you offer delivery? If yes, how much is your average delivery fee?
Most venues in the Indianapolis area are free delivery. Delivery fees are based on mileage and/or time involved to get to the venue.

"How soon should I book the cake?"  Many magazine tell you 6 months in advance.  I say that's cutting it close, especially if you are planning on a very popular date (like 2008's 6-7-08, or Valentines' Day).

"How many people should I plan on feeding?"  Debi's rule of thumb is known as her 60% Rule and it's a result of 30 years of experience doing weddings.  In general, 60% of the total number of invited people will actually show up.  Exceptions to this rule are if the bride/groom is active military and/or very involved in their church.  Remember, the key to staying on budget is to NOT pay the people who are NOT going to be there!
