The 25 Best Marryoke Songs for the Ultimate Over-the-Top Wedding Video

Hoping to live out your Glee fantasies on your wedding day? Create a marryoke video with one of these songs!

groom singing to bride

So you’re probably wondering: what the heck is marryoke? Well, it’s a combination of the words marry and karaoke, for starters, and it’s a type of wedding video where the couple and their guests lip sync a favorite song during their wedding—cheesy and over-the-top dancing strongly encouraged. The couple’s wedding videographer then edits the footage (usually taken throughout the wedding day) into a fun music video and cheeky memento of the day. These marryoke wedding videos are quite popular in Europe but haven’t exactly swept the U.S. yet. Here’s hoping that more couples try out this trend from overseas. The best marryoke songs tend to be popular songs that your guests already know the words to, all the better for easy lip syncing after a few drinks.

Looking for some of the best marryoke songs? Check out our list (featuring examples of videos from real weddings).

This 80s hit is one of the best singalong tunes out there, so it certainly makes an ideal marryoke song. You and your guests will love showing off your silliest dance moves to this one!

“Build Me Up Buttercup” by The Foundations

The best marryoke songs are ones with easy-to-remember lyrics. Clearly, this 1960s classic is a well-known tune that your guests will love to sing.

“All I Want for Christmas is You” by Mariah Carey

Hosting a wedding during the holiday season? This song is an absolute must both during your reception and for your marryoke video. Who hasn’t dreamed of hitting the high notes like Mariah?

“Marry You” by Bruno Mars (Remix)

Of course, this song by itself is one of the best wedding songs in recent memory. We absolutely love this Indian-inspired remix, which works beautifully on this super-sweet marryoke video.

“Somebody to Love” by Queen

Queen fans will definitely want to consider this favorite, which allows you and your guests to live out all of your rock star fantasies.

“What Makes You Beautiful” by One Direction

If you, your partner and your guests are the theatrical types, you probably already know all the words to this song. And it provides the perfect opportunity for some choreographed dance moves!

“Total Eclipse of the Heart” by Bonnie Tyler

Do you and your partner have a flair for the dramatic? Then you’ll probably love lip syncing and dancing to this song—though the lyrics aren’t the most wedding-appropriate or upbeat, it’s still a fun one.

“The Way You Make Me Feel” by Michael Jackson

Who hasn’t dreamed of breaking out their best MJ moves at their wedding? Well, here’s your choice. This is one of our favorite Michael Jackson songs for weddings, and it’s sure to get your guests singing along and grooving. The groom in this video is clearly loving it!

“Don’t Go Breakin’ My Heart” by Glee cast

This song celebrates friendship (hello, it’s the Friends theme song!) so it’s a perfect song for you to sing with your pals on your wedding day.

“I Want It That Way” by Backstreet Boys

If you and your partner have a sense of humor, this boy band classic is a great marryoke song. Sure, the lyrics don’t really make much sense, but it sure is fun to dance to!

“I Wanna Dance with Somebody” by Whitney Houston

There’s nothing like singing along to a Whitney Houston tune, and this is certainly one of our favorites, especially if you and your crew love to dance!

“Holding Out for a Hero” by Bonnie Tyler

This song is totally dramatic, and we particularly love how it’s used here, for a military wedding.

“Call Me Maybe” by Carly Rae Jepsen

One of the songs that first inspired the whole “lip sync video” trend, this song doesn’t make a ton of sense lyrically for a wedding but sure is fun for a marryoke video.
