Your proposal...Was it a complete surprise or did you know all along ??

It was a little of both for me. At first I didn't know. FH was sick went out with his friends and I was pissed that he didn't stay home and take care of his self (Unbeknownst to me he was picking out the e-ring). FH then came home and wanted to go out to dinner (got mad when I kept refusing) and then brought a bottle of champagne (then I knew). I still tried to act surprised, but I don't think I did a good job.

I had no idea but my children knew for a month b/c he asked their permission and took them ring shopping!! It was amazing and totally tailored for me and a complete surprise!

It was a total surprise for me. He proposed when we took our mothers out for mother's day. They knew about it all along and I was looking lost. Lol! It was at our favorite restaurant. Didn't have my hair done or nothing lol.

I knew that he was going to purpose, I helped pick out the ring, I just didn't know when he was going to do it. They day he went to give me the ring I could see the outline of the box in his pocket, so I pointed it out. He was upset that I couldn't pretend i didn't see it lol. So he said i wasnt getting it until a different day. so we went to the park and i used the restroom and when i sat in my car i seen it on the dash board and i asked if i could have it and he said depends what you say will you marry me and of course i said yes lol

I was shocked. It happened at about 5:00 a.m. in the bathroom. I walked into the ring, candle, teddy bear and the question. I turned around and he was on his knee. Apparently, he had planned on doing it on Valentines Day, but was too excited and couldn't wait. So we got engaged in the bathroom on January 27th.

@Karis....lol at not having your hair done. After I stopped crying I would have been thinking the same thing !

I was thinking 4 years later, where is my ring. After a while, I was like forget it. On Valentine's Day we always go out to dinner so noting different. When he proposed, I WAS SHOCKED!!! He proposed this Valentine's Day this year.

A bit of both. We had decided we wanted to get married, but since I wasn't into jewelry much we was going to do a ringless engagement. One day he called me after work and ask him to meet him, and I did [he is a total jokester] and he was telling me how he went out and bought this bling bling sports ring, and then I looked at his pocket and he had a ring box poking out, and then he got down on 1 knee and proposed =]

For me it was both a surprise and not a surprise.

We had been discussing marriage for awhile, and at one point he'd even dragged me into the jewlery store to get my ring finger size. I had a feeling it was coming at some point but I had no idea when.

A year after dragging me into the jewlery store, I started bugging him about it. I was like when is it gonna happen. I kinda knew he already had a ring just seemed like he was never gonna give it to me. I can be kindof impatient at times.

His mom even kept telling she had a feeling he'd propose to me sometime in June 2011. I didn't know what to believe. It was driving me crazy and he wasn't talking lol...

But He proposed in May of 2011 not June and I had no idea it was about to happen. It was an exciting well planned surprise.

I was very surprised at the actual proposal.

We had both agreed we wanted to get married, picked out our hall and made deposit.

3 months later, on my birthday were were going to Vegas.. once we had been in the air about 20 minutes, he took my hand, slid the ring on and asked me to marry him!!

He was acting a bit suspecious, but he still surprised me it was perfect.

Complete surprise. We had ring shopped and talked about marriage but he proposed in the hallways of our apartment building.

I had always said I wanted to wait to live with anyone until I was engaged because I was a single mom. We decided to break my rule for costs savings and he pretended to drop the last load of boxes on the floor outside our front door and when I ran around the corner to see if he was ok he appeared to be picking the boxes up while squatting down and then suddenly turned around on one knee with a ring So surprised!!

@Brooklyn ....He proposed in front of my entire family at my Grandparents 50th Wedding Anniversary celebration (they renewed their vows). All the grand kids gave speeches about my grandparents and my Dad brought him to the front and he made a speech about how great of an example they had been to him and I and he thanked them for helping us with our son. Mind you, public speaking is so out of his character. He hates the spotlight and so I definitely didn't think he would propose in front of everyone (I was in the corner on my cell phone updating my facebook status during his speech) lol. Last thing I heard him say was "Britt said that if I was to ever propose, it had better be in front of her family"....It's all a blur after that, lol. It was so much yelling, clapping and crying, I didnt know what was going on !! Best memory ever !

I will remember the day i got engaged because i proposed to him we had been talking about marriage and starting a family and i couldn't wait to spend the rest of my life with him so i asked him to marry me <3 it was the best day of my life!!

Well I had found the ring which he hid oh so good in the night stand... Which is his fault for putting it there But I didn't actually open the box. He completely surprised me when he proposed though. My birthday is March 14 and I thought maybe he'd propose on my bday but he didn't. He showed up in my classroom on St. Patty's day and proposed in front of my students. He completely caught me off guard!

I knew, I picked the ring out (:

I totally knew mine was coming even posted on facebook what does one where to a dinner where one is going to be purposed to..... and I still got all flustered and almost fainted when he did purpose.

I was completely blindsided. Like, I knew we would eventually get married because we had talked about it, but I didn't even have a clue if/when the proposal would happen. In fact, when it finally did, the first thing I said was "Are you serious?!"
