Why do people actually like VistaPrint?

MrsO, on May 1, 2012 at 4:57 PM Posted in Planning 0 31

Yea they have cheap prices but from my experiences, cheap prices also equal cheap printing quality.

I ordered stickers/labels for my favor boxes. They printed out waaaaaaaay too dark and looked nothing like the colors that I uploaded. I sent a complaint and stated that I only wanted a re-print if they could insure that the colors would print out lighter. I understand a lot has to do with printer calibration so I only wanted them if they could actually adjust it to print lighter. I also stated that I needed the order to be rushed if they were to re-print (rather than a refund).

Well they re-printed a new set right away so I assumed that they could make sure it printed lighter. I received them today. They are actually DARKER, if that was even possible. I sent a new complaint telling them the new ones were just as dark and now I have 200 useless stickers instead of 100, and that I want a refund and I will even ship all 200 labels back to them to prove that I can't use them.

So yea, I don't think I'll be ordering from VP again. Yea the labels were cheap but now I need to eat that money if they don't give a refund and spend even more buying my own labels and stickers (and probably ink) to print my own last minute for the wedding on Saturday.

So sorry that you have had so many issues Mrs. Ohler, especially so close to your wedding date. I can say I like them because I have been ordering from them for years and years for business and I have never had any bad experiences with them.

I don't care for VP that much. Around Christmas time I made Christmas cards and the shipping got up-graded for half the price and I was supposed to have them by the 16th. Well the 16th came and went and I hadn't received them. I called and they said

"Well they should have been there." I waited 2 more days (18th) and still no order. I called again and they were like well they will be there in 2 more days (20th). They said they could either refund me or ship reprint them and ship them out. I told them I just wanted a refund b/c I payed to have them here by the 16th. I told them even if they reprinted and shipped them I still wouldn't have them in time to send out for Christmas. They refunded my money and I did end up getting them on Dec. 27th.

I had a good experience with them, I got my invitations from there and STDs and got compliments from guests on them.

Did you order a pdf to look over before you ordered them? if it was way off from that color then yes I'd be upset..but if it doesn't match exactly but is still close to the color you want, I would evaluate how much time and energy you want to put into this rather than just using the labels you have. Good luck!

Smiley sad I didn't use them for anything "vital" really (in case anything like u had happened) - but the things i did order turned out great.

when you uploaded - did you do a .pdf or what kind of file? i never had any issues, and i think it's because i used their photoshop template and uploaded the .psd file directly...

Ab, the color is WAY off and would look really out of place if I was to use them. They are nothing like any of the colors in my wedding.

RWC, I used their photoshop template and uploaded the .psd file as well.

I had the same problem with some business cards that I had made. They came out darker than I had thought they should be and even a little off center. But I accepted them and never thought to complain them because they were so cheap and I thought it must just be me. But I will never order from them again because I personally don't like the business cards that I got. They just don't look right.

I ordered the wedding-sample packet and thought the quality was decent for the price. Sure, it's not elegant letter-press or something - but my desire to get invitations at $3-5 bucks per invite has faded since I realize they are just going to be thrown away.

I think for the template/self-upload options and customization it's a good deal. I can find other invitations on other sites for the same cheap price, but there I may not be able to edit the heck out of them and customize and adjust all the text fields.

Personally, I'm sticking to using their designs and templates. FH and I don't have any pics we want to use, and I think there might be more room for error when uploading and printing your own images and colors.

Sometimes you need to account for differences in your monitor as well.. what you may be seeing on your screen may not be as it appears to them. just saying...that's why many experienced places will send samples or color samples for you to see in person. vistaprint is good for what it costs and usually get it done fairly well. i ordered a few free things but do not like the quality of any of their paper for my invites. i chose to go go with magnetstreet.com for mine.

So sorry to hear it didn't work out for you. I used them for stuff for my welcome bag and I thought the experience was great. Maybe you can get your money back?

Our save the dates were amazing and so affordable. The shipping rates were kind of steep so the cheaper option I selected took a long time to get here but in the end I couldn't be happier.

I have never had a problem with Vistaprint, except my return address labels had a streak going down them. No big deal, it was just an address label. I also don't like that they put vistaprint.com on every damn thing your order from them. But, I got all my invites for less than $100, so I can't complain too much. I wanted them to look nice but they didn't have to be super fancy. I am using the money towards more time with our photographer.

I will say this - I have gotten so many complements on our invites from VP. That makes me happy!

I loved my invitations, envelopes, and stickers from vistaprint. I did order a shirt from them, and a tote bag that I was unhappy with they (they faded super quickly and looked cheap) but loved everything else. I am so sorry you are having a problem with them, and so close to your wedding. I would fight for a refund (you have 200 useless stickers!!) and make your own.

On a happy note, congratulations on getting married Saturday!!! Smiley laugh Smiley laugh

I never seen anything great about them. Yeah they have freebies but with the shipping it isnt that great and a lot of there stuff reg price is expensive for their quality. I know someone who has ordered alot from them and in almost every NEW order they misspelled a lot of stuff. Once they even put someone's else business name not his. So I would not recommend them but for all your own. And I spent like 2 bucks and invite for me to print my own and look just as good as theirs and I know what Im getting and when Im gonna get it doing it myself.

Sorry this is what made your day a crappy one?

I have used them for many things wedding related for my own wedding. I never had an issue. I got what I paid for.

I have also ordered a lot of things for Cates wedding. Some things I expected to look cheap: tshirts, tote bags, etc. Since they were "Future Mrs" type things, I didn't mind that they were of cheaper quality.

The magnets with their monogram that we are using to wrap her parting favor seed packets look great. The business cards w/ her monogram on them will be used on cake boxes. I used the decals to make mint bowls for the bar. All of those things were color sensitive and they were all things I made from my own upload. They were perfect.

Now the checks I ordered, they totally sucked. They printed the incorrect acct and routing # both times.

I know time is sensitive here, but there are many templates out there, have you considered printing your own? Need a template?

Good luck. This stinks for you.

Carole, this was actually just a minor part of my day although it just set the tone for everything else to come.

FH and I went out and got out own avery labels and are printing new ones as I type. Hopefully I get the refund from vistaprint so it won't be such a money sink. I should have just printed my own to begin with but having to do so many other things I figured I would just pay to have it done by someone else. I'm going back to my "If you want it done right, do it yourself" mentality.

Oh that stinks FMO! THere was something else? Drink away!

I am glad you are printing your own. Sometimes, you really have to DIY to get it right.

I lost a lot of money with the checks. Sadly they arrived right before the wedding, and I paid the household bills before we left for VT. I didn't notice the routing number was incorrect. When we came home from the honeymoon, I had all this mail and had to pay a lot of fees. But, that was my own fault. I didn't inspect as thoroughly as I should have. I had wedding fever.

Keep us posted and share. All is going to be perfect on 5/5
