When did you start wedding planning?

How soon after the proposal did you start wedding planning? Did you dive right in once you got the bling? Did you wait a little while to just enjoy being engaged? Did you already have some ideas in your head (or on Pinterest)? When did you start wedding planning? Photo by The DV Image in New York,...

I started planning before she even asked, had a wedding pinterest board since I was like 16. So, basically right away we started discussing colors and other various things. It's been about 3 months now and we're slowly putting the pieces together.

I had already had an idea of what I wanted and had a Pintrest board of things I liked before he popped the question. Got engaged in May of 2018, I didn't immediately start planning things because I was just getting ready to start a semester at school and knew I couldn't focus on class while I was planning a wedding. However, as soon as I finished the semester I dove right into planning, we have a date picked! June of 2020!! We had a venue in place and was about to start getting into the nitty gritty when we found out that we needed to find a new venue. Since we have plenty of time to plan we decided to take a breather on wedding planning until spring so that we don't get burnt out. The waiting has been killing me!! I am so ready to plan and have fun with it all. However, my fiance and I have been together 9 years come March and we have the rest of our lives together, I try to focus on this to help me keep centered.

I started really day dreaming about it all immediately, going through Pinterest like crazy. It’s been almost a month, and I just started getting ahold of venues. We want to get married in fall/winter 2021, so I want to get a good jump start so the venues and vendors I want don’t book up!

I just got engaged this past Christmas I would love to get more into planning but my fiancé and I have decided on a 2021 wedding because life is crazy right now. I am getting my masters, he is finishing tech school and trying to start a business. However, I have picked a potential wedding day, a wedding hashtag, and started making bridesmaids proposal boxes... I may be getting ahead of myself, I am just so excited and don't really want to wait 2 years. OH, and I have purchased a dress already... I told myself I wouldn't fall in love and I would keep my options open but I went and caught the feels for a dress.

Before we got engaged. My fiance and I have been together for almost 7 years, so the proposal was a long time coming. I knew it was in the works so before he proposed I had already put together a mental list of color combinations, bridesmaids, and venues to consider. We started touring venues within a 1-2 months of our engagement since I wanted to find the right venue before picking a date for the wedding, so that was the first item to check off.

We decided to wait 3 months to start any planning. We knew we wanted a longer engagement so took the time to ENJOY our new status and not start stressing immediately. So glad we decided to!

We got engaged on 1/27/19(my birthday). We started planning about a week later. Wedding date is 8/17/19. The first venue I went to I fell in love. We knew it was where we wanted to get married. We got a great deal because it was “last minute”. So 2 weeks we had a venue which also caters, open bar, ceremony site, AND scale. Booked and paid deposits on the DJ videographer/photographer soon after. So 3 weeks after engagement I had the most important things in place. My dress and bridesmaids dresses have already be ordered. So I moved pretty quickly.

First of all, that picture is absolutely stunning! Second, we got engaged in November of 2018 and knew we wanted to get married in September of 2019 so we needed to kind of get moving. That being said, we enjoyed the engagement period for a couple weeks before diving in! I guess it really just depends on what your timeline is. I did have PLENTY pinned on pinterest but found I was overwhelmed by all I had saved over the years so I actually started a whole knew board!

We have waited a while. We picked a far off date that has significance to us, so we can just enjoy things at a leisurely pace. We just started seriously looking into things last month. We have been together for 8 years so we don’t feel the need to rush into a wedding.

My wedding is set for 23 months from now but I’ve already began making inspiration boards on Pinterest and reaching out to venues for estimates. I already have a venue and caterer in mind which helps. Photographer too!!!

Started right away! We only want to be engaged for a year. I immediately started looking up venues, locations. I was moving out of state 2 weeks after we got engaged, so literally, the day after we got engaged, I went dress shopping with my mom, sister, and grandmother, and found the dress!! Smiley laugh People say I'm nuts for doing that, but I fell in love with it, and still am 6 months into our engagement!!
