When did you start buying 'things'?!

So our wedding is in October and I am anxious to starting buying ‘things’! How far out did you buy your bridal party/parents gifts, your guest book, reception items (toasting flutes/cake cutting set) and all your other wedding days ‘things’? I’m not sure why I am hesitating, but something is keeping...

I’m not sure why I am hesitating, but something is keeping me from hitting the checkout button!

Hello my wedding is next year in June. And I'm already planning and buying things. The earlier you start the less you have to do close to that time. 😊

We aren't doing the Traditional Wedding... no guest book. No cake serving. No bridal book. No planner. No rehearsal dinner. I am planning everything my self putting my colors together setting up our reception with me and my fiancee. I use to work for Hilton as a Wedding planner and in banquets so we are saving money. It's not stressful at all. We are using a pic of our engagement we put it in a Frame with a mat and we are going to use that for our Guest to Sign. My bestfriend gave me
that idea. Our Wedding is 16 months away.

I am getting married in October and Ive been buying things here and there as I see it. Alot of my decor is DIY and I got lucky with a local craft store going out of business. I want to buy everything soon but wait for the Fall stuff to come out late summer too!

For the ceremony and reception, I know I will wait until the venue is booked, what dishwear my caters have and I absolutely know what colors or theme I want!!

As for gifts, that was a little earlier because I don't need to match that to my theme, so I did that right away just because I wanted to start something already!! lol

I started buying things almost right away haha! But I also have been only getting things that I either catch a really good sale on, or really cheap on FB marketplace, and have been using my credit card 5% categories to my benefit in this as well (i.e. one quarter was 5% back on all PayPal purchases with my Discover card, so I bought EVERYTHING via PayPal). Also, download Honey and it'll notify you of things on your list when they go on sale! joinhoney.com/ref/bedjhr

We are utilizing cashback with Discover too! But it's only 1% since our venue payments don't fall into a specific category, lol!

I'm getting married in October as well, I started buying things pretty much right after we got engaged in june, like stuff for my centerpieces and decorations, a few signs, if I saw a deal or sale I was going for it, and i just got my wedding dress last week!

I’m in the same boat! I want to buy all these things so bad! But from my experiences a lot of money could be wasted here I’ve easily blown $1500 just buying everything I think I may need in anticipation for a small trip! For me, I’m on a very tight budget. I have to make sure to get the important things handled first like my dress and have a very clear picture for exactly what we are doing before I start buying things I may not use in the end even though I like them. 💕
