When did you start buying 'things'?!

So our wedding is in October and I am anxious to starting buying ‘things’! How far out did you buy your bridal party/parents gifts, your guest book, reception items (toasting flutes/cake cutting set) and all your other wedding days ‘things’? I’m not sure why I am hesitating, but something is keeping...

    Good thinking on the Black Friday sales! Hopefully, you saved your receipts so you can return things you don't use!

    My wedding isn’t until next May and I’ve already wanted to start doing this... however after far too much researching I’m waiting until Black Friday this year and then going to do a lot of DIY

    I also have an October wedding. I started really buying things this year. I've put a lot of it together myself though so even though I haven't bought it I have a lot done already. I think it's best to space it out so it's not one big chunk of money at once and make sure that you have a list together of things you need. I wouldn't have started buying if I didn't have that. I would have bought double things when I could have made something with what I already had instead!

    Pretty much! Smiley laugh I think the only thing I really need now are the signs (welcome, seat chart, time of events) and maybe some garland for the head table along with empty vases to reuse the bridesmaid bouquets!

    I found gold calligraphy table numbers, cake topper, and a leaf garland for like $30 which probably would've been like $50+ (Facebook). Gold votives on Amazon 72 of them for $36..., $3 gold petals from Facebook, gold GuestBook and Favor signs on PoshMark for like $12 (would've been $20+ each on Etsy).

    Getting married in October as well , trying to plan this wedding since two weeks ago haha . I’ve been very eager to get things but I’m holding off until maybe July or August just in case new things show up in stores or new styles . And they have way more options on decor when it’s wedding season as well!

    My wedding is in late October and I began between Thanksgiving & Christmas when the Autumnal decorations were on sale/clearance etc. When I come across a good deal, I'd scoop it up. For instance, I found centerpieces that were exactly what I was in search of while I was out shopping for other things. I picked them up. The month after I found some other things that were on heavy clearance and knew I was going to need them so I bought a couple. I found some bridesmaids gifts that were on major sale, so I bought them. I just stash stuff in boxes and totes in my basement. Once we get closer to the big day, I'll organize everything in totes and make sure I have enough of each item for my bridesmaids.

    I started buying “things” like 3 weeks after getting engaged 😅
    We booked the venue 2 weeks after so I already knew the feel of the wedding. Wedding is oct 3rd and I’ve bought 3 signs, a LOT of candles, reserved signs, and a card box. I believe that’s all. I’m constantly looking on Facebook market place for more things! I’m going to resale everything anyway so I don’t see why I should wait. Plus spacing it out has helped a lot financially.

    I’m getting married 5/2 and I’ve only started buying those things now. I’ve been pinning and favoriting things on Etsy for about a year and I actually did end up going with most of my initial choices but I wanted because;
    1. I needed to be sure about colors, design and room layout
    2. I needed to see where the budget was at after all the big things were done. 3. Some of these things you can’t buy without other information (you need to know your cake before you buy the topper) (guest count before you buy a guest book like the one we are using)
    I’d save everything you like until you’re 3-4 months out and then if you’re ordering from somewhere like Etsy give yourself plenty of time to have it get to you. My guest book and cake topper, but i ordered in different colors. Good luck!
    When did you start buying 'things'?! 1When did you start buying 'things'?! 2

    I’m still using everything we got! The only thing I had to make changes on were our tablecloths, because the size of our guest list changed which caused the shape of the tables to change. Other than that, everything I Purchased is being used. I think the key to buying things early is having a clear vision on the look/feel of your wedding. I was 100% set on the season, colors and theme of our wedding right from the start. Once you make that decision, don’t sway from it. Stop looking for new themes, etc. on Pinterest. It was definitely an advantage buying things early. It allowed us to more easily budget things rather than having to shell out tens of thousands of dollars all at once

    Omg same! I'm getting married in October too!
    I've been doing a lot of thrift shopping I know I want a lot of candlesticks and some really pretty serving wear for the dessert table, so I've been looking for bargains on those already. Other than that, I just bought a veil! I'd like to get everything bought and out of the way, but right now I'm devoting my budget to hiring vendors and making down payments on things. Maybe once I've got all that out of the way I'll start buying the "things"!
