What would you do if you would get sick (like flu) on your wedding day?

basmaandkarlo, on March 19, 2010 at 9:00 AM Posted in Planning 0 28

Hi all

This question just popped into my mind. And I have to say, I would be DESPERATE. Is there anything someone can do to avoid this OR is there anything you can do if it happens on our special day?

What is your opinion? Has it happen to you or someone you know? How do you handle such kind of things?

I think the best thing you can do is easier said than done: try not to stress out. Stress wreaks havoc on your body. If I got sick, I would load up on some day time theraflu and go on down to the chapel lol.

I'd suck it up and do it. I might have the pastor modify the ceremony to make it shorter. I'd buy every flu treatment CVS or what ever pharmacy is near by had!

I agree with trying to keep your stress low. Also, start taking one-a-day or another daily vitamin tab about a month before. Also, colds are mostly caused by fluctuations in temperature, more than they are the cold itself. So if it's a winter wedding, try not to be in and out of the house a lot.

You should be fine in May. Also, remember to stay hydrated and get sleep, since lack of sleep weakens your immune system. I have really bad allergies at the end/beginning of seasons.

@Sharon-I will be taking immodium BEFORE I even get on the plane to go to Punta Cana. LOL. Any time I travel out of the country it takes me a few days to get adjusted to the food.

I got sick the week of my wedding. Went to the doctor for a shot of penicillin 2 days before the wedding. The morning of I was feeling a little better, but not 100%. The combination of advil and colostrum every 3-4 hours was like magic energy - I couldn't feel any weakness or sickness the rest of the day!

I work in an ER I would go and have the Dr prescribe me something to kick it as soon as possible.

Try not to stress too much, eat healty foods, take vitamins and get plenty of rest. If you get sick and take meds, make sure you are taking non-drowsy formula on wedding day.

As long as you don't get food poisoning or something really debilitating, you should be fine. With the flu, you feel crappy, but you can still function as long as there are no complications and you're not in the hospital of course!!

Cold Fx x 7 days prior, plus vitamins. Oh and FH will be prescribed this by his "Dr" fiancee as well, whether he likes it or not! lol

Just an FYI for all you stressed out ladies, there's this stuff on the market called AirBorne or something like that. It strengthens your immune system if you take it daily. It's just a tablet (like Alka Seltzer) and you drop it in a glass of water, drink up, and voila! It works wonders and will help keep your immune system kicking especially with all the stress!
