Hi everyone!

While wedding planning, I have noticed that if I try to focus on all of the things I would want in my dream wedding, I either get overwhelmed by the vision or sad to think that, no, I can't afford to rent the most beautiful china and glassware with matching sterling silver cutlery. What I find better is think of the things I refuse to have at my wedding! If I just make sure those things aren't a part of my day, I know I will have a great time.

What are some of the things you refuse to have at your wedding? For example, I HATE mashed potatoes and green beans (the texture just is so wrong to me), and my caterer will not be allowed to bring those within a 10-mile radius of my reception.

I do not want drunk people at my wedding! That's why we have a cash bar. That & neither of us drink. I have told a few close friends that if they see someone chugging, they are to distract the person with conversation or, if needed, manhandle them out of the venue. I know it's a little strict but I was hit by a car as a child so I'm extra sensitive to things like that.

I love mashed potatos! But to each their own.

No "traditional seated plate dinner" ive watched too many episodes of Four Weddings where the food is crappy half the time. We are doing buffet, probably bbq.
    No shots.
No cupcake wedding cakes. They are cute but not for me.

That's all I can think of right now.

I will not have a bouquet toss. I hate them. I hate when people make me participate in them. I will hurt anyone who asks to have it happen.

No garter toss or bouquet toss... the garter toss is icky, I don't want my family or my FH's family seeing him go under my dress!! Also, there's only going to be maybe 1 or 2 single ladies out there, and I'd hate to single (no pun intended LOL) them out!

No cake in the face. I'm paying too much money for my makeup and my dress!!

No unity candle or sand ceremony thing

No money dance!! Sorry, it's a bit tacky.

I am putting my foot down for a garter retrieval. I refuse to have it at my reception as I don't feel comfortable being in that position in front of my family, and by extension I don't really think it is family appropriate. It's cool if others are for it, but absolutely not me. I also have banned baby's breath. I don't really find the flower appealing at all.

I can’t really think of anything we are deliberately leaving out. Our wedding is going to be pretty traditional, including all the normal customs and traditional vows with nothing left out. Before I met my FH I did think I would have the whole “obey” part taken out if I ever got married, but I’ve since changed my mind ❤️

hate the rustic decor or themes in general. We are just doing a color scheme and “romantic vibe” would be the best way to describe it

I am not doing the garter or bouquet toss at my wedding, its just not needed.

I also only allowed the cupid shuffle at my wedding, no others like that no macarena or electric slide! No first look either!

I refuse to do the bouquet toss for a couple reasons. 1) everyone feels super awkward doing it, 2) we really wont have any single ladies at our wedding and 3) my bouquet is not the kind of thing you throw. I spent 6 hours creating that masterpiece and it's not going anywhere but in my hand haha.

Nuts! I’m allergic. It was fun to go to an event for the first time ever and not have to worry AT ALL about any sort of contamination or hidden ingredients or anything.

I refuse to have BBQ at our wedding. Haha. 95% of the weddings I go to has BBQ! I dislike BBQ and also don't want to do the same thing as everyone else. I also refuse anything country or rustic, like burlap and mason jars. Nothing wrong with those things, just not my style or the theme of our wedding!
