What are your wedding cake flavors?

MrsButterflykisses, on August 7, 2015 at 3:48 PM Posted in Planning 0 65

My last post for the day (I promise)

What is/are your wedding cake flavor/s, fillings and icing? If you're having multiple flavors (tiers), which are you freezing for your anniversary?

Grooms cake & sheet cake: chocolate cake, raspberry filling. Pretty cake: marble cake with hazelnut cream filling and chocolate ganache. Can't remember the icing, whatever was going to work best to make the rosettes. We are saving the top of the grooms cake for anniversary.

We'll be having 3 tiers. Bottom is red velvet with cookies & cream filling, middle is vanilla with cream cheese filling and fresh strawberries, top is chocolate/vanilla marble with chocolate whipped cream and chocolate fudge filling. However, our cake size is tied to our final head count, and we're right on the edge of getting that third layer, so we may end up with just the bottom two.

Our baker actually re-bakes a small round cake for our anniversary in a year, so no freezing necessary!

@Sarah H. Whoa...red velvet with cookies and cream? That sounds amazing. I may have to steal that.

We have 3 tiers. Bottom and top tier are white cake with strawberry filling, middle tier is chocolate cake with chocolate mousse filling. We're doing whipped icing instead of buttercream or fondant.

We are going very traditional. 3 tiers, white cake, white buttercream frosting with fondant ribbons, and real flowers. We are not saving the top tier for our anniversary. We just really like traditional white wedding cake and our baker makes a delicious one!

Our wedding cake Will be 5 tiers. Going in for the tasting this weekend. Hoping to get chocolate, red velvet, Apple, lemon and can't quite decide on a 5th option. We'll probably take home the red velvet since it is FW and my favorite flavor.

We are doing cupcakes but we have chocolate with chocolate buttercream, vanilla with vanilla buttercream and red velvet with cream cheese icing. Our bakers buttercream is like a mix between cool whip and buttercream. So delicious!

Black Forest (chocolate cake with cherries and chocolate cream)

Passion Fruit (vanilla cake and a tart passion fruit cream)

Red Velvet (with cream cheese cream)

We will get a free mini cake from the baker for our anniversary, and we will plan on getting passion fruit, since that's he flavor we didn't get to have at our wedding.

We'll have a lemon cream cake with raspberry filling, a vanilla cake with hazelnut filling, pumpkin spice cake with a cream cheese filling, pink champagne cake, red velvet cake with cream cheese filling and a chocolate fudge cake. We'll have a 3 tier cake, 3-d grooms cake and double layer sheet cake. We won't be freezing our top layer but our baker will re-create it for our first anniversary. That will be the lemon cream with raspberry filling.

3 layers, but two flavors. It was extra money to add a third flavor of cake.

Yellow and chocolate cake with cannoli cream filling

    Smith Island Cake

    French buttercream icing

@barbara- I love black forest cake!

The flavor is some fancy shit I can't pronounce.

Essentially it's chocolate soaked in Baileys.

We are thinking lemon/blackberry, chocolate salted caramel, and white chocolate cake with raspberry filling and vanilla buttercream.

We're doing a 3 tier cake 1/2 chocolate, 1/2 vanilla split down the middle with chocolate covered strawberries surrounding the bottom. Similar to this one.

Planning to freeze the top tier.

Ours will be 3 tiers and a sheet cake in the back. The sheet cake is chocolate with chocolate filling, bottom layer is chocolate with oreo filling, middle layer is chocolate with peanut butter filling, and the top tier that we are taking home is chocolate with peppermint mocha filling.
