Hello all!

I’m not sure if this is the proper group for this discussion. However, I wanted to know if you ladies and/or gents wear your engagement rings all the time.

Recently, I was made to feel bad, perhaps unintentionally but perhaps not, about not wearing my engagement ring 24/7. My FHs family and I were talking about planning and my rings and such. When a member of his family said that an engagement ring should be worn at ALL times and never taken off, with quite the attitude. As if she judging me for taking it off. Mind you, I take it off right when I get home, and put it right back on when I go out anywhere. I don’t want to get it dirty, damaged, or lose its shine while I am doing my everyday tasks at home.

So tell me, what do you do? Do you wear it at all times, without taking it off? Or do you take it off for certain tasks?

Same! I waited on this ring for 4 years, but there are a few instances where I do take it off, like shower and doing dishes. My fiancé doesn’t want me wearing it at work because with what I do it could very easily get pulled off, lost or even cause injury to my hand, so I take it off when I get to work and put it right back in when I get back to the car 😂

I wear my ring 95% of the time! I do however take my ring off when I’m cleaning or showering! I also do take it off if I’m gonna be in any sort of water because I have lost some weight since getting engaged and it’s very loose and I’m afraid it’ll slide right off my finger! Everybody is different though!

I don’t wear my ring 24/7 but it is pretty close. I take it off at work when I give injections, when I wash my hands, when I wash dishes and when I shower.

I take mine off before bed and when I'm working out. I also only wore it for a week before taking it off and leaving it with him while I went to India for 2 weeks for work right after our engagement. I did buy a Qalo band to wear there, but I didn't want to risk losing it on the other side of the world.

I wear mine all the time, the only time it comes off is when I take a shower or wash my hands, but your reasons for taking it off sound reasonable to me and they actually make sense. I never really thought about how my engagement ring can get dirty when I’m doing my household tasks, but I also get it cleaned every six months by the jeweler so I’m not worried about getting it dirty. It just personally feels more comfortable to me to have it on always.

I take mine off when I know it'll get wet (shower/dishes/swimming) or when I'm cooking any kind of meat. Otherwise I keep it on but everyone is different on this, do what makes you feel comfortable.

I take my ring off as soon as I get home. It goes back in it's original box. Actually I take all my jewelry off when I get home. I don't want anything to happen to it when I'm cooking, cleaning, showering or sleeping. I make sure I put it back on when going out. If you want to take your ring off I don't see anything wrong with that. It matters what you are comfortable with. Not what people think you should do.

I wear mine most of the time, but I take it off when showering or washing my hair. I also don't travel with it because I am so scared of misplacing it on vacation. I have a "travel" ring that wear. Ironically, I get compliments on the travel ring as well...don't feel bad about not wearing your ring often. Different strokes for different folks!

I don’t wear mine in the shower, bed, or doing dishes. or in water at all. each ring usually comes with its own set of rules. so make sure you look into that?

I have had to resize mine and take it in for repairs so I have been unable to wear mine for 2 months out of our engagement! I keep it off when I am cleaning and working. I plan on keeping ring boxes in different spots around the house to keep it safe when I am washing dishes or washing hands etc. I think it is super romantic to never take off your ring but also, you have to take proper care of it!

My dad is a jeweler and has told me that 80% of their business is replacing the diamonds that women lose while they are sleeping!! ALWAYS take it off to sleep but NEVER take it off in a public place (i.e. bathroom to wash your hands)

Okay this thread makes me feel sane again lol my in-laws are in the "24/7 wear" camp but I'm not. I take it off to do dishes, shower, sleep, and apply lotions/ointments for my eczema. I don't want this beauty slipping down the garbage disposal or gunked up, but I keep it in the ring box overnight and on a designated ring holder by the sink when it's off for showers etc.

I only take mine off when showering, swimming, or cleaning! I get mine inspected and cleaned very often to ensure it's in tip top shape. I feel my fiance spent time picking out the perfect ring and a good chunk of money on it so I should wear it all the time!

The only time I take mine off is when I am showering or cleaning at home. The only I take it off when I am not home is when I am at work as a nurse and I need to perform a sterile procedure, just so I don't break my gloves.

My parents own a farm so the only time I take it off is to help them do certain tasks on the farm or if I am using harsh cleaning products. My ring costs a good chunk of money and I want to keep it safe.

I take mine off anytime i’m dealing with hot things because my stone will fog. i also don’t sleep with it because i don’t want my portions to stretch out. and in don’t touch any thing raw with it on.

I wear my ring all the time. There are time that I don’t wear for example taking a shower, cleaning. There have time I didn’t wear my ring because I am rushing to go to work and simply forgot to put it on because I’m rushing. And it is ok. You do not have have to feel guilty for not wearing your ring all the time and nobody should make you feel that way. It is your choice about how and when you wear your ring.

I personally don't wear my ring all the time. In fact, I only wear it on the weekends if I remember. The reason is because I work in the medical field, so I am constantly washing my hands, putting on and off gloves. I am so terrified that I might lose it, so I just leave it at home. No complains from anyone.
