Hello all!

I’m not sure if this is the proper group for this discussion. However, I wanted to know if you ladies and/or gents wear your engagement rings all the time.

Recently, I was made to feel bad, perhaps unintentionally but perhaps not, about not wearing my engagement ring 24/7. My FHs family and I were talking about planning and my rings and such. When a member of his family said that an engagement ring should be worn at ALL times and never taken off, with quite the attitude. As if she judging me for taking it off. Mind you, I take it off right when I get home, and put it right back on when I go out anywhere. I don’t want to get it dirty, damaged, or lose its shine while I am doing my everyday tasks at home.

So tell me, what do you do? Do you wear it at all times, without taking it off? Or do you take it off for certain tasks?

Hey! Seeing as I just got engaged I wear my engagement ring all the time, simply because I miss place stuff constantly. However I there are times like when I shower, or am giving massages because I am a massage therapist that I will take my ring off. Then I will put it directly in the box that my fiance pripised to me with. Don't feel bad for taking your ring off. There are times where u may have to. I would suggest maybe wearing it also around your neck on a chain when u aren't wearing it on your finger. Hope that helps. Congratulations to you!!

I know many people who takes theirs off a lot. The only time o have ever taken my off is when I ran my marathon(and I just did that because my fingers tend to swell a lot when I run).

    However, it’s totally person preference!

I wear my engagement ring all the time except for when I'm cooking, cleaning, doing dishes, using the bathroom, showering, and sleeping. My family also made a comment similar when I first got engaged, but shortly after I had two friends (married) and my sister in-law get mold developing under the band of their rings and as a result they had to take their rings off for a couple of weeks (one even had to have their ring cut off because she didn't notice soon enough and her finger swelled up). After that happened my family stopped making comments because they understood why I took it off during certain times.

I wear it 99% of the time. But I do take it off when I handle raw meats or if I just get it cleaned then I take it off when I shower. But majority of the time I do everything with it on. I am old school my mom has worn hers for their 36 yrs of marriage only taking it off for her recent surgeries.

I wear my wedding band all the time because I don't notice it's there. But I often didn't wear my engagement ring - it got caught on things, snagged my clothes and generally drove me nuts. It's beautiful, but I don't think there's anything wrong with wearing it only when it makes sense for you.

I weae mine all the time unless I'm taking a shower or washing dishes. During spring & summer it comes off when doing yard work.

I’ve had a similar thing happen to me by a close friend.. we were at a pool party and i didn’t have my ring on and she was shocked almost disgusted i took my ring off to swim! (she was engaged one day before i was) even more so when i said i take it off to shower, do the dishes, and sleep!
but to each their own i guess. i just want my ring to shine as much as possible so i feel like these things help to keep it looking that way Smiley smile

Don’t let anyone make you feel bad for doing something you want to. Period! 💁🏻‍♀️ And mine was a very very very expensive custom ring from Vera Wang so I only wear my when we go to a family outing, holidays or fancy restaurant. I don’t want mine to get scratched up or worse scenario lost somewhere. To each their own! But NEVER let someone make you feel guilty about any decisions you make love. Period! ♥️

I only ever take my ring off of I am using a chemical cleaner or bleach. I am a firm believer that you should wear your ring always, but especially to never leave the house without it. It is a symbol, and an important one at that! In my opinion if you are out and not wearing your ring, you are telling the world that you are not married/engaged. In the past and when talking to other people, if someone is possibly interested in talking to someone that they may want to date or have an interest in, one of the first things that they look for is if they have that ring on their finger! Plus I looooooove my ring and even hate when I have to take it off to clean!

I take mine off washing dishes, cleaning, showering, sleeping, applying lotion/hair products.
During the winter it does nothing but spin so sometimes I don't wear it because it drives me nuts.

Hi my love I take mine off before taking a shower , if I wash dishes without my gloves and sometimes for bed because the diamonds could snag and cone out. Nothing wrong with taking it off for certain tasks. And that came from our Jewlers

On 24/7. I have mine sized a tad smaller on purpose to make sure it doesn’t slip off and it’s also not easy to fidget with it! I’ve waited YEARS for this diamond so it never goes anywhere without being on my finger!

I wear my ring most of the time. But recently it lost its shine a bit and I'm regretting not taking it off! I only take it off when i sleep. So i guess it is better to take it off when you're at home so that it doesn't get damaged!
