Hello all!

I’m not sure if this is the proper group for this discussion. However, I wanted to know if you ladies and/or gents wear your engagement rings all the time.

Recently, I was made to feel bad, perhaps unintentionally but perhaps not, about not wearing my engagement ring 24/7. My FHs family and I were talking about planning and my rings and such. When a member of his family said that an engagement ring should be worn at ALL times and never taken off, with quite the attitude. As if she judging me for taking it off. Mind you, I take it off right when I get home, and put it right back on when I go out anywhere. I don’t want to get it dirty, damaged, or lose its shine while I am doing my everyday tasks at home.

So tell me, what do you do? Do you wear it at all times, without taking it off? Or do you take it off for certain tasks?

I wear my ring at all times so I won’t lose it. I take it off when I do heavy chores.

I wear it all the time except when I take it off before going to bed and when I take a shower or I am doing house chores e.g. cleaning, cooking, etc.

I like to wear my ring 24/7 but feel sometimes it gets caught on everything. I'm afraid the diamond will come out.

I wear my ring 90 percent of the time but remove it when I am doing things that could get it dirty or damaged.

I rarely take mine off, but if I’m cooking and using my hands a lot, YES and if I go to the gym and am lifting, YES. I’m okay with it getting somewhat dirty in day to day things, but I don’t want to risk it getting super dirty.

The only time I take mine off is to do dishes or wash my hands after applying stuff on my Dad's feet. Or when I wash my hair or take a shower otherwise I wear my ring all the time.

I take mine off all the time and have ring trays all over. I do wear it when I leave the house but not always inside the house.

I only wear my outside the house. As soon as I get home it goes in the box until I leave back out. I also dont wear it to the gym. It's up to you and FH on what you think is right.

I take mine off at night, whenever I'm going to be getting my hands wet or dirty or when I'm going to the climbing gym. Basically any time I'm going to do something that could compromise the ring.
I was told that it's best to take rings off at night because the settings could be loosened enough to lose one of the stones.
I also take mine to the store to be cleaned every 6 months and that takes 1-2 weeks because they send it away for cleaning (and re-plating if needed).

Well. I'm in the medical field so I wear it around my neck on a necklace. I encounter too many bodily fluids and such. Lol
When I do things around the house like clean dishes I mostly have it off. I always keep it in the same tiny box I bought from hobby lobby. When I'm out and not working I wear it all the time.

I do not wear my rings when doing weights at the gym. This is more for hand health, because in the past when I did I’d start forming calluses below the ring. And well I don’t really like wearing them in the shower either.

Growing up my mom always took hers off to wash dishes and because of the intricate details in my ring I’d probably take it off anytime I do any gardening.

I have worn mine everyday since I got it and have only taken it off to clean it. It felt weird to me at first to wear it so often, especially while showering or sleeping, but now I’m used to it.

I take my ring off all the time! I'm always worried I'll lose or damage it while doling things around the house or working. My fiance did get me a substitute silicone band to wear on days I want to give my ring a break.

I do exactly what you do! I have cheap silicone rings to wear while I do housework, exercise, etc, so I will be wearing those during those activities after I’m married.

I work as a physician in both ER and clinic setting and often times don’t feel comfortable wearing my new ring on the job dealing with patients and taking gloves off and on all day, however I do like show that I am in committed relationship. I purchased a super reasonable Swarovski band to wear ar work and my FH is 100% on board with it. Even simple grocery shopping or running to do errands I’ll pop it on. It makes the times when I can wear my engagement ring out even more special.

My ring stays on at all times. I bought a jewelry cleaner so I'm not so worried about it getting dirty. He put a lot into picking my ring and I love it so much.
