Hello all!

I’m not sure if this is the proper group for this discussion. However, I wanted to know if you ladies and/or gents wear your engagement rings all the time.

Recently, I was made to feel bad, perhaps unintentionally but perhaps not, about not wearing my engagement ring 24/7. My FHs family and I were talking about planning and my rings and such. When a member of his family said that an engagement ring should be worn at ALL times and never taken off, with quite the attitude. As if she judging me for taking it off. Mind you, I take it off right when I get home, and put it right back on when I go out anywhere. I don’t want to get it dirty, damaged, or lose its shine while I am doing my everyday tasks at home.

So tell me, what do you do? Do you wear it at all times, without taking it off? Or do you take it off for certain tasks?

I don’t. Sometimes, I prefer not to. It does not make me less of a fiancé.

I’m with you. It is never coming off my hands! LOL. At one point I was concerned about wearing when I play tennis. But now I just wear a glove over my left hand. No but really I take it off and clean it in a solution daily and then right back in my finger it goes.

I have been married for two years plus a year long engagement. I only have an engagement ring and no wedding band. I was worried about this at first but now I never take it off. I wear it everywhere- shower, gym, you name it. My ring still looks perfect.

I’m the other part of this is that I tend to lose things. I could see myself losing it and just devastated as this ring is not easily replaceable. So I only take it off to clean it and that’s it. But yea I tennis workout everything and it still looks new.

I only wear my ring when I go out of the house. Otherwise, I wear a silicone ring that I got from Amazon (for around the house, working out, etc…) I don’t sleep with any rings bc I dislike how it feels.

I actually wear my 24/7 I'm in my 40s and finally tying the knot! Not taking it off for anything.

It's bad for the metals in your ring to wear it all the time. According to jewelers, you *should* take it off when cooking, cleaning, doing yard work, lifting weights, etc. You also shouldn't wear it when sleeping because it can get caught on things in your sleep. Taking it off sometimes is showing proper care to your ring - you don't want something that means so much and is so expensive to get damaged.

I take mine off when putting on lotion, cooking, washing dishes. Etc. i also bought the silicone rings to wear during beach trips/boat, to the gym, etc. the ring is a symbol and so I love wearing that symbol showing my love for my FH.

I only wear mine when I leave my house. Otherwise, it stays in my ring box 😊
