Hello all!

I’m not sure if this is the proper group for this discussion. However, I wanted to know if you ladies and/or gents wear your engagement rings all the time.

Recently, I was made to feel bad, perhaps unintentionally but perhaps not, about not wearing my engagement ring 24/7. My FHs family and I were talking about planning and my rings and such. When a member of his family said that an engagement ring should be worn at ALL times and never taken off, with quite the attitude. As if she judging me for taking it off. Mind you, I take it off right when I get home, and put it right back on when I go out anywhere. I don’t want to get it dirty, damaged, or lose its shine while I am doing my everyday tasks at home.

So tell me, what do you do? Do you wear it at all times, without taking it off? Or do you take it off for certain tasks?

I take my ring off when I am cooking, cleaning, taking a shower and doing yard work. I do not want anything to happen to it while I am doing these activities. You should not feel bad for taking your ring off as each woman is different. You should do whatever you are comfortable with. Good luck!

Mines glued on, unless I’m putting lotion on, showering or at the gym!

Everyone is different, and sometimes someone has never even worn a ring on their finger that it just bothers or it’s an u comfortable feeling..

I take mine off while I do chores such as washing the dishes or laundry. I also take mine off when I'm getting into water whether that be the shower, swimming, soaking etc. Hope that helps!

I take my ring off anytime I might be in the water and know there's a chance of losing it. For example, I was a camp counselor at a summer camp, and we have the kids go tubing twice a week. I would take my ring off whenever I had to help with that activity. I also take my ring off if I know I'm going to get really dirty. Other than that, I keep it on all the time. I will take it off to shower, but otherwise it is on all the time.

I wear mine throughout the day and take it off whenever I wash my hands, play a sport, or work at the movie theater. I take it off at night too because I'm worried it might get lost since I roll around a lot in my sleep. Sometimes I forget to put it back on but I usually wear it every day

I rarely wear mine. I wish I could wear it more often cause I absolutely love it. But I’m a student doctor and I put my hands in people’s organs and bodies . It also breaks my latex gloves and irritates the patients during physical exam if I wear it.

I do take my ring off especially for those everyday tasks that could potentially cause damage or where I could potentially lose it. For example I take it off when doing dishes, or taking a shower (our water is crazy hard and has damaged nice jewelry in the past I don’t want to risk it), or cleaning with certain products, also while working out or going hiking. I understand the value and importance of keeping your ring on, but I also know myself and my keen ability to damage things. I’ve talked with my fiancé about it and he is absolutely fine and understanding. He spent a lot of money and time picking out this ring. He doesn’t want it damaged either.

I only take mine off when I go to the beach, the pool, and when showering! And the only reason I do that is because I’ve read up on how bad salt, chlorine, and soaps are for the diamonds. Otherwise I’d go crazy if I wasn’t wearing it. When it’s one of those instances, I put a cheap ring on that finger.

I don’t wear it at home or when working on the farm, it gets dirty and I actually lost a stone when I was doing the dishes. I’m just glad it was covered and they replaced for free but after that I stopped wearing at home

I wear my engagement ring every day. The only time I take it off is when I'm working out so I dont damage it and at bedtime. There is nothing wrong with you taking it off when you know it may get damaged or lost. You cant please everyone.

I take mine off any time I’m going on a trip, going to the gym, working with my hands, and I try to take it off when I shower. I have a silicone ring that I like to wear in place of my engagement ring, but I really don’t think it matters if you take your ring off to preserve it. I actually think that it’s incredibly smart to take care of it because you want to keep it for a long time! Definitely don’t let anyone make you feel badly about that.

I take mine off when it is wash day - shampoo, getting tangles out of my hair, just a lot of product and I don't want that to get on my ring. If I'm at the gym I have a ring protector that I slide over it so it doesn't get scratched. But, other than that one day a week I'm washing my hair it stays on. I believe rings were meant to withstand everyday wear, so I keep it on when I shower (when I first got engaged, I didn't want anything touching my ring at all, including my shower water lol.)

We go camping a lot so I take my ring off when I’m camping, showering, or doing dishes. We’ve talked about getting silicone wedding bands to put on when camping or when working on our vehicles so they don’t break or get lost.

I do not wear mine when showering, sleeping, working out, or any other time I think it might get hurt/lost. As with most things, just keep in mind how you and your fiancé feel and shake off any other judgements. You can get silicone rings on Amazon for very cheap which would be a good alternative for your engagement ring at time when you don’t feel safe wearing the real one. I wear it at the gym or other times I’m outside the house without my engagement ring.

My name is Idalis & I do/not wear my ring all the time. 😂 I wear my ring all day everyday EXCEPT when I’m showering or doing a lot of dishes.

I never take mine off! I probably should to do dishes and such but I’m so scared I’ll loose it down the drain or something! I only took its off once when we took our boat out on the ocean fishing. Haven’t since

The only time I take my ring off is to do dishes or take a shower. Another time I take it off is to put stuff on my dad's feet cause of them being dried out or on his back for dry skin issues. Otherwise I don't take mine off. I feel weird if I don't have it on.
