Hello all!

I’m not sure if this is the proper group for this discussion. However, I wanted to know if you ladies and/or gents wear your engagement rings all the time.

Recently, I was made to feel bad, perhaps unintentionally but perhaps not, about not wearing my engagement ring 24/7. My FHs family and I were talking about planning and my rings and such. When a member of his family said that an engagement ring should be worn at ALL times and never taken off, with quite the attitude. As if she judging me for taking it off. Mind you, I take it off right when I get home, and put it right back on when I go out anywhere. I don’t want to get it dirty, damaged, or lose its shine while I am doing my everyday tasks at home.

So tell me, what do you do? Do you wear it at all times, without taking it off? Or do you take it off for certain tasks?

I wear mine all the time never take it off. The thought would not cross my mind to ever not have it on. It is a symbol of his love and a statement to the world so I honor that by wearing it.

Wish I could wear 24/7. Long story short, I have a small ring from R&H. I later found out they sell cheaply made rings (4 diamonds fell out in 6 months). Getting a better quality made elsewhere bc I don't trust R&H anymore. Hopefully I can wear my new ring 24/7.

When I'm at home, my ring is off more often than it's on. There's no way I'm going to risk my ring's "life" while showering, baking, washing dishes, gardening, etc. I don't even wear it while using my sewing machine. I can't stand sleeping with any type of jewelry on either with the exception of plugs/tunnels (stretched ear lobes). Heck, there have been a few times when I have accidentally left the house without my ring on.
My fiance doesn't seem to care especially considering he knows how accident prone I am. I actually think it makes him feel better knowing my ring is safely tucked in my jewelry box while I'm working around the house with my hands.

You shouldn’t feel bad about taking it off! Shame on them! It’s a personal choice, really. I wear mine anytime I leave the house but when I’m home, it’s off and stored in a jewelry box. Dependent on what you do for work or what your daily life consists of, there is always a risk of damaging or loosing it. So why not keep it someplace safe while you are using your hands for other things such as cleaning. Just makes sense.

I wear my ring 99% of the time. I take it off if I think there is a chance that it could get damage (lifting heavy boxes, working out, etc.)

I take it off when I clean, shower, go swimming, do my hair, or when I do yard work. Basically the jeweler told us that pools and hair products, like hair spray, can take away the shine until you take it to get cleaned.

I wear it basically everywhere but the gym or gardening or any type of hard labor I will be doing. I have the silicone bands I replace it with when not wearing the actual ring.

I am remodelling a house and just a few weeks ago I was doing so much with my hands, removing carpet, scrubbing with chemicals, painting, etc. that I didn't wear my ring for almost 2 weeks even when I would run to the store. I love my fiance and am just as committed to him whether I am wearing my ring or not. Besides it's so beautiful I would feel so terrible if anything happened to it. On a regular basis I never wear it in the shower or swimming. And I slip it off before putting lotion on. I don't want it all gunked up! 😊💍💘

I take it off when I go to work (police officer), but I wear a silicone band, when I'm moisturizing, when I'm putting products in my hair or cooking with messy food.

I like to take mine off for really dirty work projects like painting, or cleaning. Other than that I only take it, along with my other three rings, off for the shower and they go back on right after the shower. I never forget because I always wear all my rings and when I put them down I put them with my glasses so I have to remember them to see.

I love to wear mine all the time. However, sometimes I can’t wear it so I also have a silicone ring. My fiancé got me a pack from amazon because I was going to be working at camp all summer and would not be able to keep my actual ring on during the weeks. You can find good ones that are not expensive at all!! I still use the silicone ring whenever I do anything with open water.

I take mine off to put on lotion, do my hair, clean, etc. Anything where it could get gunk in it.

I take it off when I shower and if I'm swimming at the beach. Other than that I always wear it. He has warranty on it so I'm not worried and I can always get it cleaned lol .

I don't wear it when I sleep, cook, paint, swim, bathe, or go to the gym. I also don't wear it when I do more adventurous things like rock climb or raft. Sometimes I forget to put it on in the morning, but I know I'm engaged and so does my fiance. We aren't any less engaged because I don't wear it sometimes. You do you girl, and don't let someone else dictate what's proper.

I take it off when I sleep, shower (really any time in water, swimming etc), when I exercise, when I do any type of cleaning. To say you should wear it all the time is really bad advice. You can damage the setting if you are wearing it doing yard work or something like that. I've heard of people with just simple gold bands perhaps keeping it on all the time, but no one I know who has diamonds on their ring wears it 24/7.
