Hello all!

I’m not sure if this is the proper group for this discussion. However, I wanted to know if you ladies and/or gents wear your engagement rings all the time.

Recently, I was made to feel bad, perhaps unintentionally but perhaps not, about not wearing my engagement ring 24/7. My FHs family and I were talking about planning and my rings and such. When a member of his family said that an engagement ring should be worn at ALL times and never taken off, with quite the attitude. As if she judging me for taking it off. Mind you, I take it off right when I get home, and put it right back on when I go out anywhere. I don’t want to get it dirty, damaged, or lose its shine while I am doing my everyday tasks at home.

So tell me, what do you do? Do you wear it at all times, without taking it off? Or do you take it off for certain tasks?

The first two months I would sometimes forget to wear it to work or if I did wear it to work I took it off when I was filing or washing my hands. Then my ring got flushed down a toilet because it slipped off my hand, it was horrifying. Now that I got it resized I wear it every day, I only take it off to shower, sometimes wash dishes, or sleep. My exception is if I am doing something that day where I may lose it like if I go kayaking I may leave it at home so I don't lose it in a lake because you only get lucky enough to find it when you lose it once if at all.

Don’t feel bad because I do the exact same thing. I’m always afraid of losing it. My fiancé understands and that’s all that matters to me. I’ve had someone say to me that it should be worn at all times. I don’t care about what others think.

No, I can’t. I work in health care and athletics so not only for sanitary reasons but also safety of others and myself. I also have a non traditional opal center stone and it’s a little too delicate to be worn “hard” so to speak but I LOVE IT, on my finger and on the shelf. 💗

I'd like to start off with the fact that I have a tendency of losing jewelery. I never wear mine swimming, to the beach, etc. I work a fairly physical job where I visit farms, ranches.. use tools, etc. I do not/will not wear my ring to work. I think the people who think we should wear our rings 24/7 dont seem to understand the value we have on our precious engagement rings (sentimental value). I do have "crap" rings though! Fashion bands that I will wear to the beach and a silicon band for work. Honestly though I've lost those too 😂 soooo a lot of the time I'm ringless. I think its preference honestly!

I never take it off. Although I wore a cheap fake one instead of my own when I traveled out of the country not wanting to ruin it by doing water sports.My fiancé was in agreement with it as well.

Don’t feel bad at all! I take my engagement ring off all the time- when I cook, shower, sleep, clean etc. I don’t want it getting dirty or for something to happen to it. I get compliments all the time on how clean my ring is (especially from the jeweler when I go get my ring cleaned). Do whatever you want to do, it’s YOUR ring!

I love wearing my ring, but because I am scared of anything happening to it, I take it off when I shower, do dishes, and go to bed. Other than that, it is on my hand! 😊

I do not wear mine all the time. I don't wear mine to sleep, swim, or anything Ii feel will cause it to be damaged.

I take it off often. First, while it is a symbol of your relationship and all, it’s also “just a ring”. Not that it’s not important, but I think the strongest symbol of the relationship is the bond and love between the two people... not just the fact you have a ring on your finger. I personally wouldn’t go around daily without it or out to a bar, but I take it off to shower, workout, or do dishes. Some people I know don’t sleep with it on. Its better for the ring itself if you don’t wear it all the time. It’s personal preference and whatever you and your fiancé feel comfortable with. Other people should deal with their own relationship

I absolutely wear my engagement ring 24/7. I can’t take it off haha. 🥰 Just so happy to wear it 24/7.

I wear mine all the time except in the shower m. I’m just so paranoid of losing it so I just keep it on! But I don’t think you have to wear it 24/7, nothing wrong with taking it off sometimes

I take it off for harsh tasks around the house.. Such as cleaning or showering.. But otherwise I wear mine all the time.. Even to bed.

Yes I take mine off when having my hands in water, using cleaning supplies, showering, vigorous cleaning and the occasional trip to the jeweler for cleaning and maintenance (when it’s usually gone for up to a week) but I’ve never had someone say something to me about it.

I take mine off when cleaning, cooking, showering and sleeping! I agree with a lot of other women when they say they don’t want anything to happen to it. My fiancé’s stepmom lost her ring that costs more then the average persons car... so when I heard that I don’t like to take any chances.

I take it off just when I shower, but every woman is different. Don’t let anyone tell you what or what not to. You’re not doing anything wrong. 😉

I take mine off when I'm doing the dishes, working at the ranch, showering & sleeping-per my father the jeweler. Besides that I wear it everywhere & I feel naked without it. Your ring should be cleaned monthly or by-monthly FYI.

I take mine off to shower, cook, clean, work outside, or sleep. Other than that, I always wear mine! Of course I read a lot of articles about “what not to do” and I don’t abide by ALL of the rules, but I do want to make sure my ring lasts for years to come ❤️

I take my engagement ring off before bed and don’t put it on the next morning until after I shower. I also take it off while doing dishes and some cleaning. I’ve also left my ring at home for the day while spending the day at the waterpark.
