Hello all!

I’m not sure if this is the proper group for this discussion. However, I wanted to know if you ladies and/or gents wear your engagement rings all the time.

Recently, I was made to feel bad, perhaps unintentionally but perhaps not, about not wearing my engagement ring 24/7. My FHs family and I were talking about planning and my rings and such. When a member of his family said that an engagement ring should be worn at ALL times and never taken off, with quite the attitude. As if she judging me for taking it off. Mind you, I take it off right when I get home, and put it right back on when I go out anywhere. I don’t want to get it dirty, damaged, or lose its shine while I am doing my everyday tasks at home.

So tell me, what do you do? Do you wear it at all times, without taking it off? Or do you take it off for certain tasks?

I take it off when I’m showering, cooking, or cleaning with chemicals. If I’m doing the dishes I don’t take it off. I wear it to bed too. Everyone is different. I just choose to wear mine all the time. And my fiancé wants me to do it’s for both of us. If you’re worried about damage to the ring, you can get it insured. That way if ANYTHING happens, you are covered.

I wear my ring the majority of the day, but I take it off to do household chores. I also take it off before bed because I don’t want it snagged or anything while I sleep!

Everyone is always going to have an opinion when it comes to your wedding <insert eye roll here>. You do you and ignore the rest! I usually take mine off to workout, shower or sleep, but that's just my personal preference.

I personally wear mine all the time. I usually just take it off when I go in the pool or something. I’m so used to wearing it that my finger feels empty without. I don’t think it’s a big deal that you take yours off! Makes sense not wanting to damage it or anything.

I usually take mine off when I get home. I dont want to ruin the ring (despite knowing itll most likely hold up) and itll get in the way of house work like washing dishes, laundry. Plus showering and sleeping.. I also NEED to take it off when I play softball. Cant wear the ring and a glove at the same time. Wont be a good time lol!

My ring needs to be sized, so I usually put it on whatever necklace I’m wearing every day.

I never took it off because I was afraid of loosing it. Turns out, NOT the best decision. I wore it into the ocean for a "quick dip," didn't even think twice to take it off because of all my friends who always wear theirs in the water. Wouldntyaknow it falls right off my finger onto the ocean floor Smiley sad

We luckily found it after days of searching with an underwater metal detector - phew! I still leave my ring on alot, but I now have one of those plastic ring guards to make it a tiny bit more snug.

I wear it all the time unless I am in the shower or sleeping. I even wear it to the gym to lift weights!

I keep little ring dishes around the house for that very reason! Especially on days I’m dedicating to yard work or cleaning I don’t even bother putting it on. I have an opal as my main stone so I get extra worried about it but when I’m sleeping, showering, cleaning, (basically anything but sitting on the couch and relaxing) so I take it off. I’ll wear it to work, and out on the town but home is free game. My fiancé is the only one there and he already knows we’re engaged so what’s the point!

I normally take my ring off if I know im going to do yard work or cooking and I try to take it off when I do the dishes but sometime I forget and then I get soap in it then I have to go get it cleaned so it has that nice shy again.

I take mine off at my house all the time. I don’t wear it when I’m cooking, cleaning, sleeping, or showering. It’s a gorgeous ring and I want it to stay beautiful. I have strategically placed ring dishes in the kitchen and bathroom so it doesn’t get misplaced.
Everybody’s different so just do what works best for you ❤️

Definitely take it off during showers, cleaning the house or yard work...too valuable to risk getting damaged!

I wear it all the time except when I put lotion on my hands. I feel that things like that would get packed between the diamonds and I want to keep the shine. lol

The only time I don’t wear it out of the house is to the gym. At home though I wear it pretty much always except to shower, cook, clean, apply lotions, etc.

I do a lot of physical activities so I have a rubber ring on when I'm not wearing my diamond. Someone told me to not wear your ring while doing dishes or in the shower...it looses it's "strength" apparently. I've been pretty rough on my ring and I'm not even married yet. Shame on me because my ring was NOT cheap!! I'm just so scared of losing it if I'm NOT wearing it. Know what I mean? But if you want to solve your issues, wear a rubber band or even a band with no diamonds in it. Something to wear when you can't wear your diamond.

I’m sorry they made you feel bad! Personally I take it off when I get home, I never where my ring at home because like you said, it can get damaged with home tasks. I also don’t wear it when I do exercise. Don’t feel bad about not having it on all the time, it’s YOUR ring after all.

I agree with Michaela - every woman is different and your ring is your choice! Your FH's opinions are just that - opinions - and reflect a lot more about themselves than about you. I wear my ring 24/7, but was recently told by my older sister that I should be taking it off when I'm doing "dirty" things. Screw 'em! Do what makes you happy Smiley smile

I take it off when sleeping, washing my hands/dishes, anything basically that pertains to my hands getting wet.
