Hello all!

I’m not sure if this is the proper group for this discussion. However, I wanted to know if you ladies and/or gents wear your engagement rings all the time.

Recently, I was made to feel bad, perhaps unintentionally but perhaps not, about not wearing my engagement ring 24/7. My FHs family and I were talking about planning and my rings and such. When a member of his family said that an engagement ring should be worn at ALL times and never taken off, with quite the attitude. As if she judging me for taking it off. Mind you, I take it off right when I get home, and put it right back on when I go out anywhere. I don’t want to get it dirty, damaged, or lose its shine while I am doing my everyday tasks at home.

So tell me, what do you do? Do you wear it at all times, without taking it off? Or do you take it off for certain tasks?

I take mine off when I go to the gym, shower, clean, swim.
My ring was expensive and I fear something could happen.

Your ring is just that YOUR ring. If you feel better not having it on at home then don’t wear it. If you’d still rather wear something so that family doesn’t make you feel bad silicone rings are always a great option that can be worn doing stuff that you normally take a real ring off for like working out and cleaning etc.

I take mine off when I'm at the gym or doing household tasks and right before bed. I definitely dont agree that it. needs to be worn at all times. That's just doing too much. Your finger still needs to breathe!

I work in a hospital. I typically dont wear mine Monday-Friday unless we are going out. I do wear silicone rings if I can remeber. Mine is cathedral set? It sits up tall. But yea, my band wont come off. But I do forget it sometimes. And that's ok.

I take mine off whenever I’m cooking, showering or during anything that could get my hands dirty! I wear it out whenever I go anywhere though but everyone is different. I just don’t like the thought of my ring getting dirty or damaged when he spent so much of his money purchasing it for me.

I wear it all the time but I do take it off for showers, dishes, yard work etc. My ring costs a lot and I don't want it to get ruined or dirt stuck it or gross food or something. I want to preserve the ring as long as possible

I take mine off when I get home along with all my other jewelry. I put it in my jewelry box next to on night stand. Before I leave to work I put my jewelry on. Expect today. Today is the first day in 7 months of being engaged I forgot my ring!! I was pulling out of the driveway when I noticed it but was already late for work. ☹️

My husband and I were married in 2013. I wear my ring from then all the time. We are talking about the possibility of getting new rings.

Same as everyone, I keep it at home most of the time so long as I’m not doing any kind of chores or showering or putting on make up/lotion/hair products. When I travel I wear what was my promise ring because it wasn’t as costly.

For me that's totally normal. I don't wear my ring 24/7 as soon as I come home I take all of my jewelry off. I don't want to wear it at home when I do everyday chores. Also, if we go to the beach or pool i dont wear it either. I would be scared I might lose it. People shouldn't be telling you what you should do. You do what's best for you

I don’t sleep with mine on for that very reason. The first couple nights I did and there was all kinds of fuzz from the blanket stuck to it. No thanks! I keep it in a safe place every night.

It’s important for me to wear it as much as possible but I know it’s not possible for everyone especially if you often get your hands dirty and need to wash it often for a job I’m the type of person who is forgetful so if I take it off I might forget to put it back on. The only time I take it off is when showering and when I plan to get my hands dirty (doing crafts, washing dishes, cooking, ect) since I wear it so often included to bed I often feel naked when I don’t have it on. As for it getting damaged or dirty I plan to get it polished every 6 months which should be free from where you bought it for most cases

I take mine off to work out, cook, clean and shower. I do want to look into the Enso rings for workouts/traveling extensively though.

I take mine off when I’m sleeping or showering or any other time it can get messed up. But when I take mine off I wear my silicone ring I got from Enso, so I have a ring on all the time. I also got my silicone ring engraved with the date my fiancé proposed to make it a little more special.

I take mine off when I shower, do dishes, wash my hands because it can slip off if my hands aren’t dry enough. I also take it off at night before bed because it gets to tight at night. As well as I take it off when I’m cold due to it possibly slipping off and losing it. Other than that I always have it on. But I wouldn’t judge anyone for when they take their ring off because that’s their preference.
