Hello all!

I’m not sure if this is the proper group for this discussion. However, I wanted to know if you ladies and/or gents wear your engagement rings all the time.

Recently, I was made to feel bad, perhaps unintentionally but perhaps not, about not wearing my engagement ring 24/7. My FHs family and I were talking about planning and my rings and such. When a member of his family said that an engagement ring should be worn at ALL times and never taken off, with quite the attitude. As if she judging me for taking it off. Mind you, I take it off right when I get home, and put it right back on when I go out anywhere. I don’t want to get it dirty, damaged, or lose its shine while I am doing my everyday tasks at home.

So tell me, what do you do? Do you wear it at all times, without taking it off? Or do you take it off for certain tasks?

I never wear jewelry and my ring can feel uncomfortable at the end of the day or if my finger swells due to water retention, etc, so some days I don't wear it other days I wear it part of the day and some days I wear it all day. I don't wear it to sleep or shower, cleaning or when doing outdoor activities where I am afraid it may get lost. I do t travel with it either! I think it's everyone's personal preference!

My fiance and I take off our rings on certain tasks. The main one is when we are doing lawn work or anything with chemicals that could ruin either ring. There are the times we may forget to put it back on right away do to needing to relax after our hard work but we always put it back on asap.

Don't listen to the people who may make you feel bad for not wearing it 24/7... a ring is a construct/symbol that makes it easier to tell if someone is married. A ring doesn't define your love/honor for your significant other but you! =)

Is it weird to wear a rubber ring in place of my engagement ring even though I am not married yet?? I am in PTA school and work as a PT tech so I do not want to wear my ring to school or work because I am afraid I will lose or damage it. I have looked at the rubber rings but am afraid it would be weird since I am not married

I wear mine pretty much 24/7 unless I'm showering, putting lotion on, or doing dishes. I think it's all up to your personal preference! no one should tell you when you should or shouldn't wear YOUR ring!

I wear mine 24/7, but I also have a jewelry cleaning kit to keep my ring sparkling! Best 15 bucks I've ever spent, all my jewelry is clean and sparkly. That being said - don't let them make you feel bad for not wearing yours 24/7! You're the bride, and your ring is something to take pride in, but you're not showing it off 24/7, so there's no real reason to wear it 24/7. Props to you for being smart about taking care of it!

Every night I take mine off. I don't wear it in the shower, to the gym, cooking, washing dishes, or cleaning.
Might sound a little crazy but everyone is different. Got to protect it even if its insured.
You do you! Don't worry about everyone else!

I take my ring off everyday before I got to sleep, when I’m cleaning, and when I go to the gym so it doesn’t get scratched up. I don’t see anything wrong with that as well as you still wear it a majority of the time.

Unless I’m working, since I work at Starbucks and can damage my ring and get it gross, I wear it. I accidentally have worn it to work but usually take it off if I do. But if I’m off, I always wear it. I want people to gawk over it. 😂😂 but if you don’t want to wear it all the time, that’s YOUR choice! It doesn’t matter what others say or think.

You are not alone with this! I take mine off all the time! Chores outside, shower, when I go to bed, I have it off and it rests in its box! Basically anytime I'm worried I might ding it or get it dirty. I always do when I get home from work too (as I work out when I get home). Wear it whenever you want. It's YOUR ring. Smiley smile

I only take mine off to shower. That’s it! But that’s up to you! No one should make you feel bad for doing what you like to do!

My ring is in a three prong setting so the risk of the stone falling out is huge. I take mine off every night I go to bed, also when I’m showering, cooking, washing dishes, and working out. I’ve also had people call me crazy for doing this, but I’d rather be safe than sorry. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I take mine off from time to time to keep it safe, yes your ring is special but it's just an object your love and commitment does change when you take it off. Don't let anyone make you feel bad for doing what you feel it's your ring, as long as you and the FH are good other opinions are just that. I wish you all the best Peace & Blessings
