Wearing a ring 24/7?

Hello all!

I’m not sure if this is the proper group for this discussion. However, I wanted to know if you ladies and/or gents wear your engagement rings all the time.

Recently, I was made to feel bad, perhaps unintentionally but perhaps not, about not wearing my engagement ring 24/7. My FHs family and I were talking about planning and my rings and such. When a member of his family said that an engagement ring should be worn at ALL times and never taken off, with quite the attitude. As if she judging me for taking it off. Mind you, I take it off right when I get home, and put it right back on when I go out anywhere. I don’t want to get it dirty, damaged, or lose its shine while I am doing my everyday tasks at home.

So tell me, what do you do? Do you wear it at all times, without taking it off? Or do you take it off for certain tasks?

I used to take mine off in the beginning. Then I decided I've waited too long for it & that's what the lifetime clean & repair warranty & inaurance is for! A few times I took it off, laid it down & forgot ro, put back on, left the house & panicked that I may have lost it out. So its glued on now except during golf.

I keep mine on pretty much all the time. I have taken it off twice though, once while at the lake, and once when 4 wheeling in the mountains. I shower/sleep with it on ( not sure you are supposed to do that). I feel very naked when it is off

Everyone is different! If you don't want to wear it all the time, don't! But how does your fiance feel about it? Is he bothered by it? If so he should bring it up to you. If he feels that way, he could be feeling disrespected, not that you intended to make him feel that way, but that could be it. My fiance and I only ever take our rings off for tasks such as showering, washing our hands very thoroughly if they're dirty from working, swimming, or if we're cooking or cleaning. But you should never feel bad if you don't wanna wear it 24/7! Talk to your fiance about it and see if he's feeling some type of way about it. After all, you and him are the only ones who have a right to have an opinion on it! Cheer up lovely, you're getting married!

I usually take it off to shower or when I go to sleep, some days I leave it on 24/7 .. it’s personal preference!

My ring is usually glued to my finger, the only times I ever take it off is if I'm cooking, baking or anything that has to do with getting my hands dirty.

I take mine off when I shower, cook, clean, workout, or even just when I’m sitting around the house. My fiancé’s mother and sister noticed that I wasn’t wearing in when I posted a Snapchat of my nails 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

I couldn't get anyone to pry that ring off my finger until just recently. I ended up breaking the band at work, so now I do take it off for certain tasks, like work, gym, putting on lotion, but that's like it. I feel weird not having it so I have an older ring he gave me that I wear at work

I wear it 85% time but when I wash the dishes or something where I’m in water a lot I take it off because I don’t like cleaning like I should

I do take my ring off b/c I have a skin disease and when chemicals or certain soaps touch my skin, I develop a rash. My fiancé is aware and my commitment to him has not changed and we both know that. I don’t let negative comments even well intended ones dictate what I do. The people that counts are the people that really knows me and they already know the deal

The once in a blue moon that i take mine off to show someone, my FH makes a point to put it back on my finger himself asap. Otherwise, it doesn't come off.

I am the same way, I take mine off when I get home, clean dishes, cook, shower, or sleep. Its not a big deal to take it off, its better than it getting lost, or some diamonds falling out, or like you said it could get dirty. If they say something again you can teach them that you take it off sometimes out of respect for it and your fiancé who bought it for you, I'm sure they won't have a problem with that.

I take my ring off all the time because I lost a small diamond stone in the halo portion of my ring. Luckily for me, the prong wasn't damaged and the jeweler replaced it same day for free. I take my ring off when I do the dishes/clean with harsh chemicals, yard work, out in field for work (i'm an environmental scientist), workout, go on vacation (it can make you a target especially overseas), when I shower & sleep. I wear a rubber rinfit (off brand qalo) ring when I don't have the engagement ring on. For my honeymoon, I plan to buy myself a fake set that looks like my original set or I'll just wear rubber rings.

I also take my ring into the jeweler for cleaning and inspection once every 3 or 6 months. Don't let them make you feel bad about taking it off. Do what you want.

I started taking my ring off when I would wash my hands b/c I didn't like it getting all soapy, but have since stopped that after thinking I left it behind one day! TERRIFYING!

Now, I just take it off at bedtime, when I'm cleaning the house/gardening or exercising. It is ONLY taken off when I'm at home and know it's whereabouts.

First of all, don't listen to the old hag or in nicer terms... she's old and comes from a different culture! She was taught differently and that's what she thinks. It's a different time now.
I go to the gym 5/7 days a week and I always take it off before I go there (barbells can cause damage to the ring). I also take it off before bed and sometimes when I'm washing dishes or messing with something super greasy. When I don't go anywhere I don't really wear it because my fiance knows I love him and the ring is just materialistic. Our love isn't in the ring.

I take mine off at the gym, while cooking and showering, and sometimes I forget to put it back on!!! It doesn't mean anything except that I am distracted, but it does not devalue your engagement or your love for your FH. I was nervous to wear mine all the time at first, i was paranoid I would lose it. Do whatever you are comfortable with!!!
