Hello all!

I’m not sure if this is the proper group for this discussion. However, I wanted to know if you ladies and/or gents wear your engagement rings all the time.

Recently, I was made to feel bad, perhaps unintentionally but perhaps not, about not wearing my engagement ring 24/7. My FHs family and I were talking about planning and my rings and such. When a member of his family said that an engagement ring should be worn at ALL times and never taken off, with quite the attitude. As if she judging me for taking it off. Mind you, I take it off right when I get home, and put it right back on when I go out anywhere. I don’t want to get it dirty, damaged, or lose its shine while I am doing my everyday tasks at home.

So tell me, what do you do? Do you wear it at all times, without taking it off? Or do you take it off for certain tasks?

I take mine off to workout and even take it off as soon as I get home from work. When I am working from home, I don’t even wear it because I often times wash dishes throughout the day and/or clean so I just leave it off! I don’t think it’s a big deal at all to take it off whenever needed. You do you girl!! Who cares what other people think

Honestly I feel like I never have mine on. I only wear it when I’m out, or know that it will be on me at all times. I work in the healthcare field and I’m so afraid of the germs that will get stuck underneath my main stone and the little side stones. My FH and his family know I don’t wear it to work. I don’t even wear mine sleeping or to the gym!

I take mine off as soon as I get home. I am not a big fan of flashy jewelry though I LOVE my ring. I also take it off doing household chores and wear it whenever I go out of the house to let the world know I am TAKEN!

Well I don't see the reason for taking it off at home unless I am cooking or heavy cleaning, but just lounging around I leave it on. I take it off every night before I shower for bed because it can get snagged on sheets. Otherwise, I wear it most of the day, even at home. Everyone's preference is different. You don't have to worry about babying it, get a good home cleaner and get it regularly cleaned professionally and it will always look great!
I also take it off for the most part to wash my hands cuz I hate the feel of water or soap stuck under my ring. I never did this with my promise ring I used to wear though so idk where it comes from. Maybe because my E ring is a little loose still; they wouldn't adjust it smaller cuz of my knuckle. I think I'll have to stop doing this after I get my wedding band though cuz taking them both off might get annoying or more prone to losing them.

I only wear mine when I leave the house! Once I come home I set it on my ring dish, it’s become a habit! Although, such a habit, that I sometimes forget to wear it when I leave and my fingers feel naked lol

I personally wear mine 24/7 BUT... mine is silicone. My wedding ring is wood. I have a very physical job and I use my hands a lot. I will not wear my wedding ring to work.
As far as YOUR ring.. you wear it as you see fit.

Thats’s just crazy to NEVER take our rings off. OF COURSE I take mine off. I’m actually not wearing it because I forgot to put it back on this morning. And guess what? I’m still engaged and still planning a wedding. I take it off to do dishes or to do my hair, and to bed because my fingers swell up in the morning. I think this family member of his was def being judgy and trying to make you feel bad. DON’T!

I remove my ring when I work out or swim and wear a silicon band instead. I also take mine off when I shower and if I’m deep cleaning to preserve the ring.

I wear it all the times. Sometime I take it off and forget to put it back on but I usually wear it 24/7. We also bought our wedding rings for a wedding a year away so I wear that too.

I take mine off when I shower, wash my hands, do my skin care routine. Basically I take it off anytime I’m around water just so nothing happens to it. Plus I take mine off when I sleep because my hands tend to swell when I sleep for some reason.

It's not their place to say when you should wear it, you do whatever you want! I wear mine 99% if the time with the 1% veing when I put on lotion

It makes sense to avoid wearing your ring if you're doing something dirty (gardening, working on your car, etc) or are worried you may lose the ring; I mostly only take my ring off when I shower or am cooking. However, I wouldn't be too worried about damaging the ring or having it lose it's shine. You can get it cleaned wherever your fiance bought it from (or really any jewelers) for free or you can even clean it yourself at home. As for damaging it, diamonds are very strong, I wouldn't be too worried but definitely be careful and take it off rather than risking damages. You definitely shouldn't be feeling bad if you're taking it off to be careful but enjoy your ring and wear it proudly too!

I take my ring my off when I'm working out or sleeping usually. My fingers swell when I sleep and when I'm hot, especially in the sun. It won't come off! It's like suffocating my finger. I forget to put it on some days, but my fiance says he doesn't care that I forget sometimes.

I wore it for a month straight to get used to it. But I never sleep in it. Could get caught in sheets and prongs loosen. Now I take mine off as soon as I get home from work or I am going to the gym. And don’t put it back on until I leave the next am. If I’m not going out it doesn’t go on. I don’t forget it because it’s always on my mind. That month helped because I’m always looking to fiddle with it.

I only take my ring off to shower or swim. That way I avoid any residue buildup and it stays really shiny.

I wear mine mostly all the time. I do take it off to clean and cook (if I’m making something that involves getting my hands involved, like meatballs etc.) I also take mine off to go to bed and don’t put it back on til I’m done getting ready the next day. I will leave it off during the day if we are planting or home improving or something that might dirty or damage it. If you FH doesn’t have an issue don’t let a member of his family weigh in on how and when you should wear your ring.
