Hello all!

I’m not sure if this is the proper group for this discussion. However, I wanted to know if you ladies and/or gents wear your engagement rings all the time.

Recently, I was made to feel bad, perhaps unintentionally but perhaps not, about not wearing my engagement ring 24/7. My FHs family and I were talking about planning and my rings and such. When a member of his family said that an engagement ring should be worn at ALL times and never taken off, with quite the attitude. As if she judging me for taking it off. Mind you, I take it off right when I get home, and put it right back on when I go out anywhere. I don’t want to get it dirty, damaged, or lose its shine while I am doing my everyday tasks at home.

So tell me, what do you do? Do you wear it at all times, without taking it off? Or do you take it off for certain tasks?

I used to work at a warehouse and I took it off before my shift every day. I work as a nanny now and I've had it sized to the perfect fit so there's really no need for me to take it off anymore, but I definitely don't see anything wrong with people who take theirs off! My FW used to take hers off all the time too simply because she wasn't used to wearing a ring! No shame!

I have a platinum, diamond ring, and Ive done some research, not much/anything can damage it. I wear it 24/7 no matter what. Anything you’ve heard could damage this kind of ring?

I feel like that's an awful thing to judge! Some people take it off so they won't lose a finger. I take my ring off when I'm doing anything they'll dirty or damage it, like gardening or doing a lot of stuff with stratchy metal. I take it off for any water things, like showering, pools, and especially the beach. My fiance's mom's girlfriend lost her promise ring when we went to the beach. Her finger shrunk in the cold and it was gone. I work in a kitchen with all of the above so I don't wear it to work.

Bottom line is I love it so much I take care of it. People know I'm engaged and I'm not looking for a hookup. As long as your FH is happy thats all that matters.

I take it off for cooking, doing dishes and when I shower or apply lotions/creams to avoid getting it disgusting and or avoid losing it down the sink drain.

I take mines off to do certain task around the house I dont see anything wrong with taking it off sometimes

I take mine off when showering, cooking or to sleep. Other than that I usually have it on all the time, but that’s really just because I’m super forgetful & I’m absolutely terrified of loosing it

Don’t feel bad. People tend to make others feel bad for no reason. I take my ring off at home too. Taking it off for a bit everyday doesn’t mean you love your partner less or that you are not committed. That’s ridiculous. Hope this helps

I take it off for work(nurse) and wear a fake one on my finger to avoid any damage , accidental pulling it off with gloves or just keeping it from getting dirty quickly. Sometimes I wear it to the gym but most times I wear the fake ring.

The only time I take my ring off is if it's getting cleaned or repaired. Otherwise if it comes off I'm probably dead

Mines off either when I get home or before I got to bed, and back on before I leave for the day. I LOVE my ring, but I’m happy to keep it safe and sound when I’m home

Honestly i don't even have an engagement ring. I have a ring I bought a few years ago as a defense against creepy guys, if that counts? And I do take it off from time to time. Making meatballs, painting, dealing with nasty adhesive, doing yard work, etc. Anything i feel could potentially damage my rings. And I'll do the same with my wedding ring, judgemental people be damned.

I took mine off more at first because I wasn’t used to wearing a ring. I didn’t wear it at work because I didn’t want to get it dirty since I work with food. Once I got used to it it feels weird to not wear it but I take mine off at night.

I wear it all the time except for when I cook, do dishes, clean house, and workout. Just because I don't want chips on the metal or my rock getting oil and dirt in it.

I am extra nervous with my ring( it's only been a few weeks engaged) but I take it off At home a lot. Last night was the first time I slept in it..lol I am thinking about getting a silicone band for vacation, or any activity that I risk the chance of damage(it is insured) or losing.

I wear mine if I'm not at work. I work with my hands a lot and don't want to mess it up. So I put it on my necklace while I'm working. Otherwise you probably won't catch me without it on. I've waited my whole life to wear a ring on this finger. 😁😁😁

I take off when I go to sleep. Sometimes I forget to take it off. When I wake up I dont put it on til I shower, clean and I put it on when I leave for work mostly.

I only wear my ring when I'm not home but when I get home I put it un my box by my TV.
