Hello all!

I’m not sure if this is the proper group for this discussion. However, I wanted to know if you ladies and/or gents wear your engagement rings all the time.

Recently, I was made to feel bad, perhaps unintentionally but perhaps not, about not wearing my engagement ring 24/7. My FHs family and I were talking about planning and my rings and such. When a member of his family said that an engagement ring should be worn at ALL times and never taken off, with quite the attitude. As if she judging me for taking it off. Mind you, I take it off right when I get home, and put it right back on when I go out anywhere. I don’t want to get it dirty, damaged, or lose its shine while I am doing my everyday tasks at home.

So tell me, what do you do? Do you wear it at all times, without taking it off? Or do you take it off for certain tasks?

I don’t wear it to bed or in any type of water, I use a silicone ring whenever I workout or swim!

I hardly wear mine. I take it off at home as soon as I walk in the door. I dont wear it at work or to workout. I only wear it if I'm going out and about in public and know I'm not doing anything that could cause me to lose or ruin it.

I keep my ring on all the time. The only time I've taken my ring off is when I go visit my dad in prison and that's because I have to. I don't see anything wrong with other people taking their ring off. Honestly it's your preference on what you want to do.

I work in a hospital so I don’t even wear my ring to work. I take it off when I go to the gym, if I’m doing yard work/gardening, cooking. I basically wear it on days I have off, in evenings around the house relaxing, when we go out to dinner or with friends. I take it off before bed most of the time as well because I’ve woken up with fluffy blanket fibers in my prongs before from tossing & turning! My family is also speechless when I say I don’t wear my ring “all the time”, but everyone is different! My fiancée agrees that I be careful with it. I already sent it back to my designer once for bending the band while using weights at the gym (risk of pave diamonds falling out on band) & I actually scratched an accent stone somehow at my other job! I would rather be safe than sorry. I am also the type to clean my ring more than most. I want to keep it sparkling & last a lifetime Smiley smile

I take off my ring when I shower, swim, wash dishes, clean the house, do yard work, exercise, put on lotion, apply makeup, or style my hair. I want my ring to sparkle for as long as possible, and I live a state away from where it was bought, so I can't have it cleaned often. It's important to me to take good care of it!

My fiance's grandmother was born and raised very proper in England. She always told my fiance that removing rings for any reason gave bad luck as it symbolized issues in the marriage when it was taken off. It means a lot to him that I keep it on 24/7. We have the ring insured and i take it in regularly for cleaning and to be checked (the only acceptable time to take it off). I don't have strong feelings either way, but since it means so much to my future hubby, I don't take it off. I think it's cute he's not wanting to take chances of bad luck in our future marriage.

The only time I ever take my ring off is when I go swimming. Besides that it never comes off. I believe wearing your engagement ring is just as important as wearing your wedding band. Even if you’re just sitting at home it’s a sign of commitment and should be worn at all times.

Hello! I basically wear my ring at all times. The only time I take it off is for showers and when I take it to go get cleaned or if I’m cooking. This ring I basically attached to me (his rule not mine lol). I have tried to negotiate about wearing my ring to work because I’m a nurse and I feel like I bring all types of bacteria home on my ring. But he got me jewelry cleaner so I can clean it at home lol.

I take mine off constantly! I don’t sleep with it (I have a tendency to take things off in my sleep and lose them under the bed), I don’t shower with it, I don’t put lotion on with it, I don’t cook with it. I want it to be perfect for as long as possible, and I’m unintentionally rough on my hands. I would hate to speed up wear and tear process by wearing it 24/7

I take mine off for certain tasks like doing dishes or cooking, especially when I make things like meatloaf or hamburgers where I have to mix raw meat with my hands. I also took it off this summer every time I went swimming.

I never wear my engagement ring anywhere. I know I am engaged. But if you wear it out, you might lose it. 😥😵

    Hi!

i am kind of “lazy” with my jewelry and usually wear my rings, some bracelets and necklaces and my stud earrings all the time, to bed and everything. I feel naked without some of my jewelry. I also have lost jewelry by taking it off when washing hands or leaving it somewhere I visit so I feel safer keeping it on 😬. My theory is that it is good material and can keep up with my life so I don’t have to worry about taking it on or off or dulling with wear. Get some good at home cleaner to clean it every so often and you’ll be good!

I know someone that basically never wears her ring. Some aren’t jewelry people and you should never feel bad about wearing or not wearing your jewelry. It’s up to you. At the end of the day, it’s yours, do what you want. I have never heard it is a rule to always wear it.

Hello I run a a lawn service and my first engagement ring I wore it all day every day no matter if it got dirty then noticed I was missing a stone off my band I called the company to see how much it would cost for it to be fixed and they just sent me a hole new one so when I’m home I wear my new one and when I’m out getting dirty I wear my old one missing a stone no one seems to bother me on that I’m sorry someone made you feel miserable about not wearing your ring if it works for you and your other half don’t worry to much on what others say
