Hello all!

I’m not sure if this is the proper group for this discussion. However, I wanted to know if you ladies and/or gents wear your engagement rings all the time.

Recently, I was made to feel bad, perhaps unintentionally but perhaps not, about not wearing my engagement ring 24/7. My FHs family and I were talking about planning and my rings and such. When a member of his family said that an engagement ring should be worn at ALL times and never taken off, with quite the attitude. As if she judging me for taking it off. Mind you, I take it off right when I get home, and put it right back on when I go out anywhere. I don’t want to get it dirty, damaged, or lose its shine while I am doing my everyday tasks at home.

So tell me, what do you do? Do you wear it at all times, without taking it off? Or do you take it off for certain tasks?

I do the same thing, I wear it if I go out, I occasionally wear it to work if I know I wont have a very hands on deck or a very long day at work. I do have a free cleaning at the jewellery store where he got it from, but Its only every 6 months. But what I am saying is, if I am washing dishes, cleaning the house, where sometimes I forget I am doing a serious labor, then I take it off. But I always wear them, however I did not get any issues from his family about not wearing them, perhaps because they did not see not wear it. Plus I always take a photo of it lol.

You are not alone I take it off immediately when I get home. When I’m leaving out in the morning for work I put it back on. It feels weird not having it on in the day time and I don’t want to damage it in the house either. I recently went on vacay and took it off before entering the pool. I discussed with my fiancé before doing so because I didn’t know ring etiquette. It’s between you two not the world.

I used to only take it off when I get in the shower/bath, going swimming, doing dishes, or anything that is rough on the hands. Yet when I took my ring in for an inspection they told me a ton of stones were loose and needed sent out to be repaired. Now I take my ring off during everything I mentioned above but I also not not sleep with it on anymore.

I take mine off to exercise, clean, do the dishes, etc. They actually recommend that you don't wear it for those things because the setting can become loose and then the diamond falls out. No shame in taking it off to do those things but I also got some silicon rings that I wear when I take the diamond off because I just like having something on that finger! Every woman/man is allowed to do what she wants because ultimately the ring is just a symbol it's about the love and commitment in your heart!

I take mine off all the time. I’m an artist, so I don’t want paint, dye, charcoal or anything with a waxy texture to get in mine because of all the baby stones. I also take mine off when I do the dishes or wash my hands because I don’t want to risk losing it down the drains. There’s also some days I don’t even wear it because I plain forgot. The only thing that really matters is that your fiancé is okay with you not wearing it. They should be understanding because you said you didn’t want it to get dirty, which is a very applicable reason to not wear it. If I just forgot to wear it then I let my fiancé know and that it doesn’t mean anything other than I’m forgetful! Everyone else’s opinion don’t matter! Good luck!

I wear my ring all the time. It shows others that I'm committed to someone. And besides there was no need to accept the ring if I wasn't going to wear it.

I take my ring off when I get home and put it in my jewelry box. In the am before I leave for work or school I put it back on. It's your ring given to you by him, you don't have to abide by what others said as to when to wear it. And you're right ; I don't wear mine at home because I don't want it to get dirty, or damaged especially while cooking or cleaning.

I usually keep my ring on most of the time. I take it off sometimes when I cook and when I use nair.

I work in a chemistry and mechanical testing laboratory so I leave it at home because I usually have to wear gloves and if I am not careful enough, the ring can come off with the gloves or get damaged. If I am going out with or without my fiance I always like to have the ring. I never wear my ring to beaches or pools. I believe that not having your ring on certain activities is a personal decision that should be discussed between you and your fiance.

I was taught from my family that you never take it off? Maybe it’s like an older fashion thing but I have had my aunts and gma tell me that I should never take it off... so I haven’t lol. I don’t see why not though, just preference.

I used to wear mine all the time! Lately, I take it off a lot more to swim/work out and I forget to put it back on often! I feel bad about it once I realize I forgot, especially when going out, etc. But for me, the obsession with wearing it definitely wore off.

I wear my all the time because I'm just obsessed with it and fell naked without it now haha!
I do take it off when cleaning, showering, sleeping or when I go to the gym.
My FH got himself a silicone ring as his engagement ring lol because he said men should have one too! He wears it for the most part but there are days he forgets to put it on which I do not mind at all, he isn't used to wearing rings.

So weird...Personally I think you should wear it whenever you feel comfortable wearing it. I NEVER sleep with mine on because my fingers swell up at night and I don't want to lose it in the bed haha. But yeah I rarely wear it around the house because I don't want to get it caught on something or get any cleaning chemicals on it while doing chores. Or in the shower... You do you girl! Don't let people make you feel bad for such a thing

I take mine off doing chours, working out, taking a shower or any other time I feel it will get damaged in some way. I have a cute little dish I keep it in when I take it off so I know its safely kept.

I wear my ring pretty much at all times. Maybe once or twice I’ve taken it off. If i feel like it’s not clean (enough), I take it to the jewelry store and have it cleaned.

I take it off when I shower, go swimming, do yard work, some cooking, etc. Anything where I could get it dirty or oily I take it off.

I personally wear mine 24/7. The only time it comes off is in the shower or doing dishes. I just personally feel like if I have it on it honors my fiancé and it keeps other guys from hitting on me as well.
