Wearing a ring 24/7?

Hello all! I’m not sure if this is the proper group for this discussion. However, I wanted to know if you ladies and/or gents wear your engagement rings all the time. Recently, I was made to feel bad, perhaps unintentionally but perhaps not, about not wearing my engagement ring 24/7. My FHs family...
Hello all!

I’m not sure if this is the proper group for this discussion. However, I wanted to know if you ladies and/or gents wear your engagement rings all the time.

Recently, I was made to feel bad, perhaps unintentionally but perhaps not, about not wearing my engagement ring 24/7. My FHs family and I were talking about planning and my rings and such. When a member of his family said that an engagement ring should be worn at ALL times and never taken off, with quite the attitude. As if she judging me for taking it off. Mind you, I take it off right when I get home, and put it right back on when I go out anywhere. I don’t want to get it dirty, damaged, or lose its shine while I am doing my everyday tasks at home.

So tell me, what do you do? Do you wear it at all times, without taking it off? Or do you take it off for certain tasks?

    I take mine off when I am climbing (no thank degloving) and when I am doing something I don't want my ring to touch. If I take it off I always have a cord with me and I put it on a necklace so I don't lose it.

    I always wear mine since it's because such a habit and I had a promise ring before my engagement ring. I work in the culinary industry so my fiance got me a band for my engagement ring so I can have the option to wear it in the kitchen and I do. It's your ring. Do what you want and don't let anyone shame you for your choices.

    I wear my ring 24/7! I just love showing it and him off! I tend to take it off however, when I’m taking a shower, watching my hands and if I’m at work and I need to take it off for safety. Other than that, I have the ring on all day everyday!

    I wear mines ALLLLLLLL the time except when I'm putting lotion on other then that it stays on.

    I work alot with my hands. So I take it off to keep from losing or damaging it. It has a specific spot it goes in when I take it off. I love my ring. I love my guy. I treasure it enough to not risk hurting it or myself while working. Also, while it is symbolic, its still just an object like the paper. If something were to happen god forbid, they are just objects. I wouldn't lose my love and commitment to him because those things were lost or ruined. I would be more hurt to lose him than the ring

    I take mine off before I go to bed and don’t wear it when showering, doing my hair/makeup, or working out. I also tend to take it off when putting lotion on my hands or washing my hands. My fiancé would like for me to wear mine 24/7 but he’s a man and doesn’t understand that soaps, makeup, etc can harm the ring.

    I take my engagement ring off when I shower, clean, and sleep. I am also a part time server so I try not to wear my ring at the restaurant because of the food I handle and the bleach water we use.

    I take mine off to shower, cook, and I usually wear a cheap silicone ring I purchased to work.

    Personally it's up to you. A lot of elders do believe in 24/7. I do but to help with your reasoning as long as you have a proper fit it is unlikely to be lost on your finger. To keep is sparkling you can get a cleaner to place it in when the shine dampings or my FM got me a all natural coconut soap that I wash my hands with and it makes my ring shine. But to each it's own if your spouse good with it that's all that matters.

    I wear mine 24/7 trust me it doesnt lose it shine lol I love when mine sparkles in the light I love admiring it. Plus I used to have a promise ring in its place before I got my engagement ring he bought it our first Christmas together. Anyways I only take it off when I'm cooking or in the shower or if I'm doing something in the dirt like gardening or something because I dont want it to fall off and I lose it. Even though my man got a warranty on it for life, that if I lose any diamonds they will be replaced for free. I love wearing my ring I love looking at it i cant help but smile when i do. So i pretty much wear mine 24/7

    I definitely do not keep it on 24/7 and no one makes me feel bad about it. Even my fiancé suggest not wearing it at times.
    I take it off if I workout. Don’t want to cause any damage with metals from the gym or get it dirty with sweat lol.
    I take it off when cleaning or doing a lot of dishes because of the chemicals and also when showering.
    Since it’s summer I also try not to wear it to the beach or in the pool.
    I also never wear it to sleep. My fingers tend to swell for whatever reason when I sleep.

    I take mine off to shower ,cook, sleep, I basically take it off when I get home. I went to a jeweler after I got my ring and he told me wearing your ring to bed for eight hours is equivalent to rubbing it against concrete. It’s considered “wearing” while you’re sleeping. Don’t let someone else tell you how to wear your ring! I’m sure it’s beautiful and your fiancé understands how important it is to you.

    Don’t feel bad! I only wear mine like 2 days out of the week because at my job I wear gloves and the ring won’t fit comfortably underneath. I used to work at a jewelry store and you are correct you should not wear it while swimming, doing dishes, showering, sleeping, going to the gym, working outside etc for two reason. One, some of those activities could ruin your ring or get it dirtier than necessary, and two, when you sleep, workout, shower, your body temperature rises and many people notice that their fingers swell, and if your fingers swell too much it could cause circulation issues or even get it suck on and have to have it cut off. So don’t let them guilt you, do what you are comfortable with!

    I have never taken mines off. The only reason is that I tend to loss jewelry or misplace them as soon as its off my finger. But it doesn't matter if you wear it all the time or half the time. Your already married and whether you wear your email in or not it won't make you less married...

    I also take it off when I get home and then put it on if either I go out or just start a new day, one of my friends works at Kays and she said never wear it to bed, and not during cleaning or other things considering it can loose shine or get caught on something while sleeping and possible rip out a diamond or something

    I take mine off when I am sleeping as well as showering. I take mine off during sleeping because if my ring gets caught in fabric it is possible for the diamonds to fall out.

    I wear mine almost 24/7 I usually only take it off to shower, or if I’m doing something rough with my hands! 😊
