Hello all!

I’m not sure if this is the proper group for this discussion. However, I wanted to know if you ladies and/or gents wear your engagement rings all the time.

Recently, I was made to feel bad, perhaps unintentionally but perhaps not, about not wearing my engagement ring 24/7. My FHs family and I were talking about planning and my rings and such. When a member of his family said that an engagement ring should be worn at ALL times and never taken off, with quite the attitude. As if she judging me for taking it off. Mind you, I take it off right when I get home, and put it right back on when I go out anywhere. I don’t want to get it dirty, damaged, or lose its shine while I am doing my everyday tasks at home.

So tell me, what do you do? Do you wear it at all times, without taking it off? Or do you take it off for certain tasks?

I take off when cooking, doing the dishes, applying some sort of lotions and or creams to me or someone else, like sunscreen and while using nail polish remover. And other task that might damage it.

I take it off when I’m cleaning the house and sometimes cooking. I’m very forgetful sometimes and I have left it at home when I left sometimes. I feel bad but I’m not used to taking off my jewelry other than my earrings.

I wear these silicone bands that a coworker gave to me because they were too small for her. She gave me three a pink one a white one and a burgundy one. I wear those in place of my ring when I’m at work. On my days off I take my ring out the box and wear it. Mostly the ring sits in the box until I’m off work and I put it on

Jewelry professional here. You ABSOLUTELY are supposed to take it off for cleaning, cooking, showering/swimming/bathing a child or animal, at night, definitely during yardwork, when hiking or doing other extreme sports or working out, and to send it out regularly for maintenance.

The people who wear their rings through literally everything and ONLY take them off once every 6 months (or even longer) for a cleaning at the professional...... we totally side-eye that. The rings STINK by the time they take them off, and then they're also usually the type to freak out about how much it will cost to fix the ring that they damaged by not listening and keeping them on through all of the above.

    .......Sorry not sorry.

I only take mine off if I am cooking something that I need to mix by hand, like meatloaf. Oh I also took all of my jewelry off when I dyed my hair, as a precaution to not stain anything. But I hate the idea of taking it off and losing it, so I leave it on as much as possible.

I do the same! I take it off as soon as I walk in the door and put it back on when I leave the house for work, etc!

I wear mine during the day and take mine off when I’m “done for the night”. So basically, I put it on in the morning when I’m getting ready for the day and it stays on until I get in the shower at night. The only times it comes off during the day are when I’m cooking, cleaning with chemicals, or putting lotion on my body. However everyone is different; for example, my sister-in-law said that she’s *never* taken her rings off, not even when she was pregnant with her kids.

I went in the river the other day and took it off because I did not want to loose it. It fits perfectly, although still scares me to loose it!

I take my ring off to shower, put lotion on, or if I'm using cleaning chemicals around the house....other than that I wear it all the time!

I take mine off for the gym and beach! I also have several diamond cleaning sticks that were engagement gifts that I use to clean it if I’m going to an event and want it extra shined up! Smiley smile

I used to wear my engagement ring at all times expect to shower and then I had a little diamond on the band fall off. When I took it to the place for repair the sales person told me I shouldn’t wear it all the time, cleaning and cooking with it wasn’t a smart idea. I then learn to take it off as soon as I get home since I go straight to the kitchen, do dishes, pick up and shower. I put it on the next morning before leaving for work and on weekends I put it on when I go out. Nothing wrong with that as you make your own rules. Don’t let other people dictate your life, do you!

I try to think I wear mine 24/7, but I honestly don't. I'm very weird about rings, and I take it off for doing dishes, some cleaning, taking a shower, doing work (I used to count inventory and it ruined my hands), stuff like that. I don't like to get it super wet (I know it won't tarnish or anything, but I prefer not to!) or around dirt/grime. I don't ever submerge it in anything or clean anything with it on. If I'm even just mopping my floor I sometimes take it off if my hands will get dirty.

With this habit comes another bad one- I always lose things. I haven't "lost" my ring anywhere besides my house yet. When I "lose it" it's sitting on a table where I placed it. That said, it's important if you take it off to put it in the same place everytime, or in something big that you can see easier if you lose it (a baggie, its box, jewelry box).

Rings are a pretty huge investment, you wouldn't drive your new shiny car through a bunch of gravel or puddles! I don't think there's any problem with taking it off sometimes at all.

I take mine off before I shower, go to bed, wash the dishes and sometimes when I'm cooking (depending on what I am cooking). There's some days when it's hot and my fingers swell a bit so wearing my ring is a bit uncomfortable. I'll also take it off if I am afraid of losing or damaging my ring when I am doing something. I work with kids so sometimes it's best to take off my ring so I don't actually scratch someone or so they don't accidentally break it.

I wear mine 24/7 but I believe it’s completely personal preference. My fiancé prefers that I take it off when I go to Places like the beach and the pool and when I clean, but I don’t. He bought me a silicone ring... so we will see if that helps 😂
