Hello all!

I’m not sure if this is the proper group for this discussion. However, I wanted to know if you ladies and/or gents wear your engagement rings all the time.

Recently, I was made to feel bad, perhaps unintentionally but perhaps not, about not wearing my engagement ring 24/7. My FHs family and I were talking about planning and my rings and such. When a member of his family said that an engagement ring should be worn at ALL times and never taken off, with quite the attitude. As if she judging me for taking it off. Mind you, I take it off right when I get home, and put it right back on when I go out anywhere. I don’t want to get it dirty, damaged, or lose its shine while I am doing my everyday tasks at home.

So tell me, what do you do? Do you wear it at all times, without taking it off? Or do you take it off for certain tasks?

I wear mine all the time! Except when I am cleaning, yard work, gym and showering. I wear it to sleep and all day everyday. My fiancé really loves when I wear my ring and makes him feel proud because it definitely cost a lot of money!

i would try to wear it as much as you can because it obviously cost our men a lot of money and they put a lot of effort to get it for us!

I only take mine off if I'm in the shower or doing dishes. Other than that, it never leaves my hand

I take mine off at home too. I don't want to ruin it by doing dishes and other daily task. I try to always wear it if we go out, not going to lie I occasionally forget to put it on before leaving because I got two under two and getting out of the house is hectic lol.

I definitely take mine off quite a bit, cause I feel the same way as you I don’t want to lose it. I take it off to shower, sleep, and when I’m at work (I do hair and constantly are in sinks and having product on my hands)

I love my ring but it's usually in my ring dish when I'm at home. I find it a bit tedious to take it off and on to do things that could potentially damage it. Making sure you don't forget where you last removed it, keeping it from getting scratched, etc.
    It's a lot.
I don't blame you one bit

I take my off before bed, if I’m cleaning, and doing work around the house. If I’m just home and not planning on going anywhere or doing anything, I won’t even put it on. When I work out, I usually wear silicon bands so I have something on my finger. But if you want to wear a ring all the time, invest in a silicon band as well.

I personally take mine off before bed. My hands still swell after having my babies.

I do pretty much the same. I do a lot of crafting and have ruined past jewelry that way so if I am doing chores or diy projects I leave it off. Otherwise I keep it on. I never wear it to the shower as I am afraid somehow it will get stuck in my hair while i wash it. I leave it in a designated place in my room. I also take it off to sleep as my fingers tend to swell a lot some nights. It's your ring from your FH if he isn't bothered by how and when you wear the ring I wouldn't worry.

I wear mine most of the time but do take it off for cleaning, cooking, showers, working in the garden and stuff like that were a stone may pop out. I did buy a plain band that I put on instead so that I am still wearing something but not necessarily my engagement ring. It is your choice on what you feel comfortable wearing though.

If you're good at remembering to always put it back on i would say this is fine BUT keep in mind this also gets you used to not having it on AKA easy to forget somewhere.... my cousin used to do the same thing you do and she forgot it at her hotel and no its lost forever unfortunately!

I also worked in high end jewelry sales for 7 years and i will say you don't need to worry about getting dirty/scratching it up because MOST places will offer cleaning and polishing services with your purchase, for instance mine was from Jareds and i leave mine on 24/7 so it gets lotion, hairspray, soap in it and gets scratched from lifting weights but i don't mind because they have a lifetime warranty on the ring and i can go by and get it cleaned and polished whenever i want/need to AND the diamond is insured as well as long as i get the prongs checked with them at least every 6 months. As precious as a diamond is its also one of the toughest materials out there and does not scratch easily, unless butted up to another diamond, gold is a soft metal and will scratch fairly easily but its also easy to polish it out.

the only material you have to worry about "losing its shine" is platinum. while it is also a very strong material and doesn't scratch as easy as gold, it also doesn't have the same luster as white gold has to begin with. Other than that, you don't need to worry about losing the shine, just pop in the store you got it from ad ask for a quick clean and polish!

I take it off sometimes when I work out or am doing something I think will affect the ring! It does get caught on stuff all the time but, that’s what insurance is for!

I take mine off all of the time. I take it off as soon as I get home from work and sometimes I forget to put it on. My fiance makes a big deal about me not wearing it all of the time but I cant help that I forget or that I want to chill when I get home without all of my jewelry on. Cant please everyone. Do what you are more comfortable withSmiley smile

I take mine off when I'm showering, or doing dishes. I got it caught on a doorframe at work one day and bent the holy crap out of it and I'm so afraid of doing it again so I'm super cautious
