Hello all!

I’m not sure if this is the proper group for this discussion. However, I wanted to know if you ladies and/or gents wear your engagement rings all the time.

Recently, I was made to feel bad, perhaps unintentionally but perhaps not, about not wearing my engagement ring 24/7. My FHs family and I were talking about planning and my rings and such. When a member of his family said that an engagement ring should be worn at ALL times and never taken off, with quite the attitude. As if she judging me for taking it off. Mind you, I take it off right when I get home, and put it right back on when I go out anywhere. I don’t want to get it dirty, damaged, or lose its shine while I am doing my everyday tasks at home.

So tell me, what do you do? Do you wear it at all times, without taking it off? Or do you take it off for certain tasks?

I take mine off to sleep, shower, wash dishes, cook, and I wear a rubber ring for work since i don’t want to get my diamond ring messed up when I’m making drinks

Every woman is different. I do take off mine when im taking a shower, doing yard work. I do wear it at work (Nurse), im not scared of losing its shine.. real diamond wont ever lose its shine. Good quality diamonds and setting should be fine when worn everyday. Besides, whats the point of having it if youre not going to wear it? Again, everybody has their own opinion and belief.

I always take mine off for showering/swimming/washing dishes because it could so easily slip off when my hands are wet and my fingers change size due to temperature change! I've also accidentally left it off for a day or two, but no one has given me grief about it, least of all my fiance (who loves his 'man'gagement ring, as he calls it, and has the same routine with mostly wearing it but often removing it).

I do currently wear it when working out, but I'm going to start taking it off when I do weights. It rubs against the weight when I'm doing certain presses and that's probably not good for the ring or for my hands.

I have always worn minimal jewelry that I left on all the time -- sleeping, showering, cooking, etc. But after I got engaged I read you should take off the ring when you sleep, shower, swim, etc., so I've had to make a habit of taking it off and on! I definitely forgot to put it back on a few times and felt naked without it! To help make it easier FH got me several cute ring dishes we put around the house for me to put the ring in when I'm not wearing it--one in the kitchen, in the bathroom, by the bed, etc. Plus, they are cute!! Has anyone used those wishbone-shaped necklaces that can store your ring when not wearing it? Do you have to remove the necklace to put the ring on it? I think it's cute but I'd be afraid to lose it!

I wear my ring 24/7. I wore it to the water park, beach, amusement park, gardening, dishes. I will only sometime take it off when I'm doing my hair because I don't like the way the gel and hairspray feels on my hands after. I also asked for a bezel set diamond because I knew I would wear it 24/7 and I would not want to be careful with it

I take mine off before bed, and put it back on after I shower. I don’t wear it when swimming, or on the lake. I also take it off when doing dishes or cleaning around the house. Don’t want it getting damaged or dirty!

I take mine off for work, because the tasks sometimes involves chemicals or wearing thin gloves. Also anytime I am doing dishes, bathing, putting makeup/lotion etc on, when we went to a theme park, and any other time the ring is at risk.

I wear mine all the time except when I shower or go to bed sometimes at work I have to take it off depending what I’m doing only because sometimes they only have medium gloves and my ring rips the gloves

I'm the exact same as you, OP, I take mine off right when I get home and only put them on when I'm going to work or going out anywhere else. I don't like wearing any jewelry while lounging around the house. I'm also extra careful with my rings. I work with kids and sometimes do messy activities, and I have a chain in my desk at work that I put my rings on and wear around my neck when I'm doing something messy.

I take mine off as soon as I get home from work. I like to have free fingers when I’m home lounging. I have an ocd about having jewelry on when I’m home. It’s annoying! Lol

When my FH 1st purposed I would take it off to go to work cause it was loose fitting. Due to weight gaining Now I wear it all the time except when I apply lotion, wash and style my hair, and cook. Honestly taking your ring off for things in that nature is not bad your cherishing it (protecting your ring)

I take mine off when I put on lotion/oils and if I'm handling raw meat. Other than that, it's on 24/7!

Mine has a lifetime warranty or i would probably be more scared. I wear mine all the time unless i go swimming, wash my hands, or doing heavy cleaning or anything that mite involve doing something with my hands. Sometimes i get paranoid and take it off before going to the bathroom lol. Occasionally ive taken it off to go to sleep. But usually i always wear it

I take my ring off ALOT. It cost wayyy too much to not take care of it! Especially when I go to the gym, pool, clean, cook etc I use my ‘Halo Ring’ it’s rubber, made for times when you don’t want to wear your fancy ring. Serves the same purpose.

I wear mine everyday all day. I only take it off when I'm in contact with alot of water, and yard work. I feel naked without it. As well as he spent the time and money on getting the perfect ring, the women should wear it and admire it.

I haven't worn my engagement ring since the day I got married (I never intended to keep wearing it because I'm not much of a jewelry person). I loved it, but it always got caught on stuff. But even still, I would put it on when I left the house and take it off when I got home - I didn't wear it cleaning, sleeping, showering, cooking, working out, or any number of times when it would be inconvenient. My wedding band is much more comfortable to wear all the time, but I still take it off for most of those things though I do wear it working out.

I honestly don't wear it all the time. I take them off to clean dishes or clean in general..to shower , swim, and other things. I also take it off / don't wear it if the weather is too hot currently or am full of water so my fingers are puffy. I may wear it more once i have the appraisal for insurance purposes but i haven't decided.
Don't let you FH's family make you feel bad. When you choose to wear your ring is your choice..even if that means you don't wear it for certain things. I absolutley LOVE my ring..but i don't want to ruin it before the wedding.
