Hello all!

I’m not sure if this is the proper group for this discussion. However, I wanted to know if you ladies and/or gents wear your engagement rings all the time.

Recently, I was made to feel bad, perhaps unintentionally but perhaps not, about not wearing my engagement ring 24/7. My FHs family and I were talking about planning and my rings and such. When a member of his family said that an engagement ring should be worn at ALL times and never taken off, with quite the attitude. As if she judging me for taking it off. Mind you, I take it off right when I get home, and put it right back on when I go out anywhere. I don’t want to get it dirty, damaged, or lose its shine while I am doing my everyday tasks at home.

So tell me, what do you do? Do you wear it at all times, without taking it off? Or do you take it off for certain tasks?

I take it off when my hands will get dirty or Im using harsh cleaners. I also dont wear it when I shower. I absolutely love my ring I dont want to take it off. But every woman is different. You dont have to wear it 100% of the time. Its not like taking it off means your arent commited to your FH. I see no problem with taking it off.

I wear mine all the time. The only times I take it off are when I take a shower or do the dishes (or any other cleaning type tasks around our apartment).

The only time I take it off is when I shower, wash dishes, cleaning with chemicals & or when I'm doing something crafty where the ring can be damaged

Natalia - I’m so sorry you were treated that way - I have to take my ring off a couple days a week because I work in surgery & I can’t imagine someone being rude about it! I don’t like to wear it if I’m going to be swimming in rough water either (ocean, white water rafting). Don’t let anyone tell you what to do - it’s your ring & your body and there is no law about how you have to demonstrate your engagement!

I don't wear my "real" ring while at work instead I wear my silicone ring. I intermittently take my "real" ring off to do dishes, working with food, or dirty jobs or chores. Sometimes I take it off a bunch when I sleep. Don't let anyone shame you for doing what is best for you. It is none of their business.

I usually take it off when I'm home from work. I dont want to ruin it with my clumsiness and I just got a puppy so I really need to be careful!

I usually only take off the ring when there is hands on work that I feel may damage my ring. Other than that only when I sleep because my hands swell up at night.

I take mine off whenever there's a chance my hands will get messy, even sometimes eating a juicy burger! It's a completely personal thing and there's no right or wrong way to wear one's ring.

I take it off to cook and when I’m cleaning certain things, getting my nails done, and when I send it to be cleaned. My FH is the one with the problem. Like the first time I was getting it cleaned it took a day or 2 and he was having a heart attack like omg a day without it would kill us both. He’s better now somewhat.

I take mine off all the time! I hate too but my ring is a family heirloom and pretty big and pricey. I do not wear it when showering, swimming, fishing, working out, to work at the hospital. Luckily my fiancé and our families completely
agree and understand. You don’t need a piece of jewelry to prove your love. Plus wouldn’t you want to save your ring that has meaning behind instead of needed to get a new one or replace it because it got lost or damaged??!!

Hi There! I wear my ring during waking hours unless there is a danger of damaging or losing it. I think it's totally up to you and you alone.

I was proposed to while I was pregnant so my fingers were fat lol. I barely wear it now until he takes me to get it cleaned and sized. I almost lost it in the buggy while putting groceries in the car & since, it’s been sitting in the box waiting to get sized 😔😔

I took mine off when I cooked, cleaned, showers, swam, worked, slept, or just plain didn't feel like wearing it. Now that I have my wedding band I rarely wear my e-ring and keep the same standards for my wedding band (except I have forgotten to take it off at night a couple times because it is a lot less noticeable)

You are in no way required to wear it at any time. If a ring on your finger is the only thing keeping you faithful or the only way your SO can trust you to be faithful, then you have bigger problems.

There are so many opinions on this subject and it all comes down to what YOU prefer. I take mine off when I cook and sometimes when I shower but I am getting use to having it on all the time. With that being said, I drive my jeweler crazy when I come in because sometimes it is dirty (by dirty it just needs to be steamed, nothing crazy). There was one time I had a loose stone, however this was when I was taking it off all the time. Now that I wear it all the time, I have no loose stones, weird right?! lol.

Do whatever makes you feel comfortable, its your ring and your finger Smiley smile Smiley smile
