I'd like for my guests to pay for their drinks because I'm from a place where I'm trying to convince myself that it's okay. My problem is, no one I know carries cash! Anyone know where I can rent a great ATM? I'd like to have one set up near my self-catered buffet so guests will feel absolutely obligated to throw cash at me but I don't know where to start!

Also, would it be weird for my grandma to write me a sizable check during the dollar dance? Is that considered tacky? Can she just stick it in my FH's pocket or should I have someone hold it for me?

UPDATE:

A cutesy poem will really set this sucker off!

You're at our wedding!

What do do?

Your pockets are empty

and your wallet too!

Don't you fret!

Don't feel grim!

Just use this handy ATM.

**$3.75 charge

AMEN.

Glad someone has a sense of humor over all of these frequent posts of late. Don't forget to charge for the boutique toss and the garter. Have to recoup money somewhere for them. Oh and it's just a pretend wedding and wedding party.

    If you want to really trick people you need to start spelling words incorrectly and add in some improper punctuation (;

And you're getting married a year in advance and keeping it quiet, no?

For the time-conscious couple I suggest a brown bag ceremony. People can bring their own lunch and eat while they watch the nuptials.

    Aye, Dios mio!

When I saw the title, I knew this had to be a joke, and I'm so glad it was. I about had a heart attack thinking of the level of tacky, and that wouldn't be good for the bambino.

I decided to have my sister (MOH) wear those little coin things from Sonic and also, I bought one of those square things you can plug in to your phone to accept money... My parents are paying for our alcohol but I decided I need to have a $20 entry fee... You know... Because weddings are expensive. Also, not going to get legally married either, I'm on food stamps and unemployed but my FH has a ton of money... He convinced me this was a great idea so we can still get our government bennies. I'm not telling anyone though... Not even the officiant, just going to surprise him by not having a marriage license.

Damn, I thought this was a "real" question for people that may need cash, for say, tipping someone, cab, etc. My venue is a hotel, so there is one in the lobby - I'm covered. (No cash bar or anything that requires my guests to pay.)

I've actually decided to charge my guests 5 dollars to shake my hand, 10 dollars for a hug, and 20 dollars for a photo. If they want a dance I'm expecting 50.

    BYOM, BYOB, BYOC

Bring your own meal, beverages (as well as some to share) and chair.

ETA: Make sure no one has change for a $20, so you can get it allllllll!

You should probably make guests bring their check books.. that way they can just reimburse you for the cost of the entire party.

I'm having everyone bring their own food. The bridesmaids are making their dresses and I'm forcing them to have their hair and makeup done by my girl. (But I'm totally not paying for that!) Cash bar. I'm trying to do this as cheaply as possible!!!
