I'd like for my guests to pay for their drinks because I'm from a place where I'm trying to convince myself that it's okay. My problem is, no one I know carries cash! Anyone know where I can rent a great ATM? I'd like to have one set up near my self-catered buffet so guests will feel absolutely obligated to throw cash at me but I don't know where to start!

Also, would it be weird for my grandma to write me a sizable check during the dollar dance? Is that considered tacky? Can she just stick it in my FH's pocket or should I have someone hold it for me?

UPDATE:

A cutesy poem will really set this sucker off!

You're at our wedding!

What do do?

Your pockets are empty

and your wallet too!

Don't you fret!

Don't feel grim!

Just use this handy ATM.

**$3.75 charge

AMEN.

@Courtney okay good! Just make sure they're on the same stationery as your invites and stuff.

No seriously, we attended a wedding where the couple had a honeyfund where on their wedding website you could donate to their honeymoon. But we only found out a few months after the wedding they didn't even go to the place they said they were going on the honeyfund. They went to a much cheaper destination, not only that but when asked they said that "are still planning on going" but not until their 1 year anniversary. So basically you either didn't get enough to cover the honeymoon or you spend the honeymoon money on something else. What also makes me upset with their situation is why keep it a secret that you didn't go? Someone had to ask how was X (the country)? and they responded "oh we actually went to Y (another country)." Make everyone bring their own iPod and earphones. That way they can dance to whatever music they want, AND you don't have to pay a DJ!

@FFW! That's the worst thing I've heard so far!

    But it has me thinking...

@Melissa We are having pasta, so I was thinking about having a vending machine that's just full of forks and knives.

When ya send the invites, be sure to list the registry (only high end of course), the honeyfund acct, the gofundme acct, a cash envelope, and, of course, the guest pays the postage for the RSVPs.

Oh,.....I LIKE the idea of vending machines for the food!!!! Like the automat (you're mostly too young to know what that is, but it had a giant wall of little glass compartments that you put coins in to get food out.....LOL

Make sure the ATM charges your guests a high fee to cover the rental fee, that way it doesn't take a cut from your profits at the door when you charge an entrance fee. And make sure you serve sandwiches at your dinner time wedding while you and your bridal party eat something much more substantial.

Lol @Veronica, the scary thing is, I got a wedding invite a few years ago that had a cash envelope in it. I did not go to the wedding, the thought of being there was scary.

Also don't forget to make sure you do a tiered wedding, make sure your family and friends know where they really stand.
