Unique guest book ideas..

Private User, on June 20, 2012 at 1:45 AM Posted in Planning 0 41

Okay so I am having a small wedding (45 people). Because of this, I don't want to have traditional guest book because a lot of it will just be blank. I was thinking about having note cards w invelopes that are the color of my wedding and have them out it in a pretty glass case, but I can't find note cards that I like. Any other unique ideas that you tried or heard of?

Have you looked on etsy.com? They have some really nice stationary items and you can commission to make products you like!

We are having a guest tree where people ink their thumb and leave an imprint on a canvas with a picture of a tree so it looks like a leaf. We got our tree from Michaels for 6.99 and it has enough space for 65 prints. We figure that after the wedding we can frame it and hang it in our home instead of shoving it in a box somewhere like most would with a traditional guest book.

Sign a wine bottle, sign a decorative plate or vase for you to put on display.

    Sign a painting or print.

Create a small photo book telling the store of how you and FH met and a little bit of history of your courtship - have them sign the pages.

Think about what you'd like to do with it after the wedding. We also had 45 guests, but I knew the traditional guest book would end up on a shelf collecting dust. It's not unique, but we have a photo matte. It's hanging on the wall now :-)

I am doing a wish jar. I bought a sign made from an esty shop that explains how it works-they just write their wishes or marriage advice on the card and drop it in the jar. I made small cards with different patterned paper hearts on the outside of each card. After, I am just going to tie them together in bundles with twine and keep them in our keepsake box. I attached a pic of the cards in the jar.
The second pic is an idea I recently found that I think is cool!
You write out Questions on different cards and guests sign them with their answers: Where do you see us in 25 years? What is the best marriage advice you've ever received? What is the most romantic place we should visit? What should we name our kids?...

Those wishing trees are nice as well and that way you can have only as many as you need.

I love that @Shawna! We're doing "wishing stones." My dad has a ton of river rocks in his backyard (under the deck of course) We're having people sign them and then display them in our house after the wedding.

We're doing a wishing jar also. The cards will be at each place setting with a keepsake pen and the jar will be at our sweetheart table---I think. lol

Similar to some of the ideas mentioned above, I got a regular photo album and cut card stock to fit into the photo slots (4x6). Then I had people write a message or give advice on a card and had the kids draw pictures. I had a list of questions people could answer and let them know they could also write something else if they wanted. It was so much fun to read through what people wrote and some people had really sweet messages or advice. The drawings are priceless as well Smiley smile

I really like the idea of a dinner platter where you can bake in the signatures and use it on special occasions or all the time :-)

We will actually have 2 "guestbooks". The first one at the church I was thinking we would do a picture book with our engagment pictures. I saw the idea on pinterest and loved it.

The other guestbook that we are going to have is from our photobooth. When each guest (or group of guests) use the photobooth 2 sets of photos print out. One for them to take home and the other for the guestbook that the company we used offers. So the picture strip gets glued into the book and then they can write us a message.

    @Melanie --- http://www.etsy.com/listing/96592119/custom-wedding-guest-book-alternative-3d

Just keep in mind that the leaves are fairly small.... it really is purely for peoples names. I was slightly disapointed when I received it at first (because I didn't realize wha the size of the leaves would be)... but I really do love it now, and cannot wait to have it hanging in our home after the wedding!! Smiley smile

We're also doing a thumbprint tree! We are expecting about 75 guests though, but I hope it'll work out :-) I found the template online for free and then our friend who made our STD's used the same font so we could stick to our "theme." It cost $20 to print a blown up version and we'll put it in a frame and voila.
