Tux Rental-How much?

Married, on February 11, 2013 at 3:47 PM Posted in Planning 0 33

FH and I went to Mens Wharehouse this weekend and picked out the tux's for the guys to wear, and I was so shocked with the price! I had a $40 off each rental coupon from a bridal show I went to, and the rental price is still $202 (total package)!

That is INSANE to me, but my FH didnt seem too suprised, is this normal?

How much are the groomsmen in your wedding paying to rent?

The groom bought a black suit. Much cheaper than renting a tux.

Wow, that seems kind of high. We were quoted a price from an independent store for $160 each, groom free. That includes everything except their underwear and socks!

Maybe it depends on the area - I'm in Portland, OR and we went with what I thought was the most expensive (his idea) and with the $40 off, they will each pay $149 + the $9 insurance or whatever it is.

It's about $180 where my FH and I are going to get them at.

When I asked FH what his budget was he said $200 so sounds about right. The lady who I bought my dress from I asked she recommended waiting for a good sale and buying ilo of renting. However FH isnt doing a traditional tux just a casual black suit and tie.

I am in SC and when FH and I went last week we picked out a tux that was in the middle range so with the $40 off coupon it's $149.00. However, there were some that were well over $200.00. I think it's crazy as well (because they are only RENTING)!

I'm in central Fl and we went to Men's Warehouse, the Vera Wang rentals were $299! No way was I going to ask anyone to pay that to be in our wedding. We went back to the place I got my dress from, and they had three piece suits for $110. Still insane, but much better!

I thought about doing Jos A Bank, but my FH for some reason didnt want to, not sure why...hmm

We wanted a dark charcoal grey tux, the only charcoal they provided was Vera Wang, so that may be why they are a little higher then normal, but I thought with the coupon they would even out! Oh well, the guys are going to look good I guess, and my FH said he was going to blame the price on my expensive taste!

I was just wondering how much more they are actually going to cost then a normal tux!

When we were considering tuxes here in FL, with the discount we were at about $105-110/each. That was still more than what I wanted, especially since the guys didn't need the jacket. We ended up buying pants and vests from JCP for the guys, Dillard's on clearance for H; dress shirts for Macy's for the guys and H already had his from Express.

Definitely check out other options, you may be able to find a nice black suit the guys could wear that they could at least keep for that amount or less.

I know the price is crazy! I offered to look at other options, but my FH didnt seem too bothered by it, I think we might put a little $$ down on each tux to help out!

I feel bad now seeing all of the other prices you ladies got!

I went to Men's Wearhouse yesterday - also with the $40 coupon. I told them to show me the cheapest they have. Total came to $89.

We went through an independent place. For the guys, it ran around $180. That included pants, shirts, vest, tie and suit jacket. The guys all had black pants and jacket, the vest and tie varied in colours. We got a bit of discount with 5 rentals, but we gave the discount to our ring bearer's family, since they are short on money.

We went to Friar Tux (worst rental experience of all time) and they messed up on nearly every tux (missing pants, cuff links, ill-fitting shirts, etc.)

    Price paid $120pp.

A coworker just told me about www.theblacktux.com (her SIL did the web design) and I wish I knew it existed for my wedding.

We used Tip Top and we got ours for $110 per guy with the insurance for a black tux with everything. and Fhs was free since we had 6 rentals (thats after a $500 credit from a bridal show, split it up evenly amoung all the guys.)

That is ridiculous. You can buy a black suit from Macys for under $99 when they have their sales and its brand new & you get to keep it. Keep shopping. Your FH is not phased by it cuz he is not the one paying for it. Its good that you are being mindful of prices. Im sure the groomsmen would appreciate it.

My friend who got married last year told groomsman to wear any old black suit from their closet and it worked out fine. We are probably going to buy suits for all the groomsmen (my college poor brothers) and do the same.

We went to Men's Warehouse and we got the Calvin Klein suit (it's the middle one between the cheapest and the Vera Wang in the two button variety). The total was $160.00 with the $40.00 off coupon. A few groomsmen groaned but when we told them the girls had to pay $80.00 for the dresses plus mani/pedi plus hair/makeup... they stopped.

One thing I didn't realize was that it is the same price for kids. We have a 5 year old Jr. Groomsman and it was $160.00 for his tux too so keep that in mind.

Also, if you opt not to rent shoes that knocks $40.00 off (which we did for the Jr. Groomsman).

My 3 peice suit was $140 for everything - pants, jacket, vest (all matching) tie, shirt, handkerchief. My brother rented one cause he didnt want to buy a suit and his cost was $160 and he got the same deal but rented shoes as well.

    This was Tuxedo Royale.

We aren't doing tuxes. FH is wearing a tan suit and GM are wearing matching pants, shirts and ties. I figure if the girls can spend $120 on a dress, the guys can spend $80 on a nice pair of dress pants, that they can most likely wear again. But I do like Jos A. Bank a la carte deal. We would have gone that route if we were renting.

OMG, I had the same reaction!! I couldn't believe that a tux RENTAL could be so much...FH's is free, but the other guys have to dish out $140, except for the ring bearer, who will get it half priced...Mind you, the girls had their dress made and only spent $110 AND they get to keep it Smiley winking
