So my cousin got married this past Saturday. My family and I were invited so we went. It was an outdoor wedding and everything was beautiful. Until the reception. No cocktail hour no nothing. She had a tent set up and the tables were decorated beautifully. Well after the ceremony we all (60 of us) gathered in the tent where there was a sign that read "sit wherever you like." Thank goodness we got a table with people we knew. Well the food was salad and bread. That's it. Well I was thinking it was just an appetizer but no. That was it. There was no bar or anything just a lemonade stand! Well after the "food was done." That was it. No DJ, no dance floor no music..nothing. The bride and groom thanked everyone. Grabbed the card box and left. Also found out from my uncle that the grooms best man was a guy he met on Craigslist because he had no one else. Worst wedding ever!!! Let's here your stories?

Nope, Boozy. Last time I was defending Erin Wood, "EW" on here from all the jealous girls that hate on her because she has money to afford certain luxuries. So you weren't even close.

@BeachyLauren It's too share the story as a guest, so brides reading who plan on doing the same thing will think twice. The phrase "anyone who cares about you, won't mind if you dont feed them or provide music or alcohol , etc...." gets thrown around a lot. These types of stories are the examples of why that doesn't hold true.

Oh my god you thought people were jealous?

    Disturbingly inaccurate read.

And I love how so many of you flagged it right away. You can dish it out but can't take it, eh?

Does anyone get concerned when someone is so lacking in judgement and logic that they think that because you're like "Hey feed your guests and don't be assholes to your loved ones" means "You can't have a wedding!"

Yes, Richard. They will still be loved and accepted by me and I would probably share a good laugh with them.

I only see one person on this thread bragging about money...

Ms. Private Wedding says that we can dish it, but not take it. Throw up some pictures of this black tie affair darling, I want to see what my money could have bought if I wasn't spending it all on alcohol and cheeseburgers.

M....I've read TONS of times posts from people on here telling others that they can't afford a wedding because they can't afford the luxury of providing alcohol, etc for their guests. So I was not "lacking in judgement" to assume that means you think they shouldn't have a wedding when it's exactly what I've seen some of you tell people on here.

@LisaLee just because you're handing out black ties as favors at your wedding doesn't make it a black tie affair. Just sayin'.

    Carry on.

No one tells them not to have a wedding. We give alternatives, cut the guest list, cancel the party bus, serve beer and wine only. I guess you don't read many threads. Just bust in and white knight in the stupidest posts.

@FutureMrsC I know why people post them, I'm just not a fan. That's my opinion, as I stated.

    Back to more important things:

I'm curious of your definition of "truly black tie" Lisa

I only see one person here who seems awfully jealous, and that's the one claiming to have a black tie affair (which is probably actually just a wedding with "black tie" written on the invite).
