Terrible Handwriting - how can I address our STDs?

Bad Wolf .., on October 24, 2012 at 12:52 PM Posted in Planning 0 22

Our STDs are being delivered today and I can't decide how to address them. Both FH and I have cr@p handwriting and I don't want to hire a calligrapher. Any ideas? Any websites that will print 40 different addresses?

If you have Microsoft Word and a printer you can print them yourself. Just go to Office Max and get some labels.

If you are wanting them hand written, a calligrapher is always good. They can get quite pricey though.

This might not be a popular answer, or proper etiquette, but I printed out all my addresses on clear address labels. I just couldn't see taking the time to address them all nicely and neatly, or paying someone to do that.

I might be called tacky, but I don't care. At least I used a nice font....

You are not suppose to use labels, if you do get the clear ones. We are printing them directly with the printer on the envelopes. My handwriting is horrible.

I did mine with address labels. I have a good handwriting and I can do calligraphy, but I didn't want to worry about making mistakes while writing and I had way too many to address so I just made labels in Microsoft, used a nice calligraphy font and printed and pasted.

I read some people are buying clear address labels and going to Kinkos. Anyone tried this?

I'm using clear address labels and a calligraphy font. Who said that you can't use labels? I plan on doing the same thing for my invitations (unless I print directly on the envelopes).

Can you bribe a friend with neat handwriting? I have nice handwriting and have been bribed with dinner and wine more than once to fill out invitations for friends.

I like Shannon's idea of bribing a friend. Otherwise, find a handwriting font that is still very legible and print it directly on the envelopes. It will look so much better than labels, even clear ones.

I used a calligraphy font and printed directly on to my envelopes.

I used clear labels as well. They looked very nice. I didn't spend any time fretting about it. Save the dates are less formal anyway!

I went to Walmart and bought clear address labels and then downloaded the template in word and typed then all up. I printed and put them on the envelopes. It may not have been as elegant as handwritten calligraphy but it worked and was budget friendly ($9.00 for 100 labels). The couple people that I have heard back from didn't even look at the front of the envelope.

Another option for "cheater's calligraphy" is to print the addresses in dark black font on a regular piece of printer paper, and to trace over the letters. If you pick up an inexpensive calligraphy pen from hobby lobby or michaels, I think you'd be surprised with the results Smiley smile

Most printers will let you send the envelope right through the machine. That's what I'd suggest since buying labels is just one more extra cost.

Im buying a return "stamp" for our info and probably doing labels. My handwriting isn't horrible, but afte addressing 100 envelopes I'm sure it will be. I'm also considering a envelope addressing parrty. My BM's have decent handwriting so I hope they're game.

I'm doing cute circular labels for our Save the Date postcards and wraparound labels for our wedding invites.

Depending on what color envelopes I use (possibly deep purple to match the invites) I had planned to print a pretty font in light ink and trace over with a silver pen. I'm planning on the same for my invites.
