Ring Shopping: Modern or Traditional?

He knew what cut I really liked but he picked a band that he loved. I like that it’s a pretty blend of both of our tastes.

It was a total surprise. I had given him some ideas and said all that mattered was that it wasn't really traditional. He had the diamond from his grandmother's ring and picked out a beautiful twisted vine type of setting for it and I am completely in love with it! We've been engaged for over 9 months and I can't stop staring at it!

Kind of both. I saw it at a antique shop we visit pretty frequently and fell in love with it. Every time we would go back, I would go and see if it was still there. For months it was. One day it wasn't and I was so bummed. I didn't know that my fiance was the one that bought it until he proposed.

I had shown FH what i wanted from almost day 1, but the ring i got was a total surprise and nothing i would have picked, and i love it even more! It is so unique and so sparkly! I guess FH knows me better than i know myself!

It was a total surprise but at the same time, he did a little digging and a had a friend do some detective work to find out what kind of rings I liked. I showed her and we talked and then a few months later he proposed with the ring I told our friend about. It was the greatest thing ever!

Traditionally. My FH knows exactly what I like. This is something he wanted to do by himself, and he enjoyed it a lot.

I was completely surprised with the proposal and also the ring. He picked it out all on his own, I think he did good. He had admitted my ring size about a year beforehand and for a few months I thought he might propose.... by the time he did I wasn't expecting it.

Well this one would have to be modern as we discussed the ring ideas we both like but we both are having custom made rings

I have always wanted my grandma's engagement ring, and he knew that. So when he went to ask my dad for permission, they gave him the ring. So I did know exactly what I was getting and I am totally happy with it :-)!

Mine was a complete surprise and my fiance got it custom made...he picked out exactly what it looks like. And I am in love with everything about it!

If I had to pick out my own ring this is exactly what I would have picked.

We didn’t physically go ring shopping together, he, but I did give him hints on how I wanted my ring to look like.

Well more traditional I guess he asked what kind of ring I was interested in we went and looked a little bit so I could show him my taste and he went out and bought one he thought I would like the most.

I showed him what kind of rings I like, he picked out the rest of the ring from there.

Traditional. He asked me for ideas but I did not have any part of the shopping experience otherwise. I did not see my ring until he proposed and it was perfect.

Definitely a mix. I went to the shop a found a few designs I liked. I went home and showed FH and he took it away from there. The proposal was a few months after that so I was still super shocked when it happened!

My husband picked both of ours. I do wish I had been able to pick my own.

Modern, we went shopping together. He had given me a budget for me to look at what i wanted and I was convinced i wanted a pear cut with a halo but once i got to see how they look on my finger i was turned off. Ended up going for a traditional round solitaire that was almost twice the initial budget
