Definitely nontraditional! His proposal was so spontaneous he didn’t have a ring yet. We later went and got one together.

Modern, I suppose… FH and I went to look at rings together in December, 2017, and I fell in love with this gorgeous Neil Lane set. However, I had no idea he went back to the store and purchased it just three weeks later and then popped the question at the end of February, 2018.

100% traditional. I knew nothing and was pleasantly surprised! Although we had talked of marriage and had been together 4 years, I didn't think it was happening any time soon. He did a great job picking out something unique and I feel like this is becoming a lost tradition. I knew I would love anything he chose because it would come straight from his heart. I think there's something sweet about that.

I had no input because I had no idea he was planning to propose. He didn't want me to pick it out, because he knows i'm frugal, he says cheap LOL, and he wanted me to have something special. We had never even talked about rings, yet he somehow got in my head and picked my dream ring, from for setting, to color, everything!

Modern! I fell in love with a specific ring and he wanted me to choose anyway since I’ll be wearing it every day for decades!

I think a mix. I had showed him pictures before, and we had gone into a jewelry store a few months before and I showed him which ones I liked. I had no idea he'd be proposing when he did, so he picked out the specific ring himself.

My FH picked it out by himself, and he did a very good job. Which I’m not picky at all since I don’t get to wear my rings except on weekends when I don’t work. He also picked the wedding band out by his self as well.

I’d say both! He asked me what my ring size was and preference of stone and he designed the rest himself 😁

I was not involved. My fiance asked for help from my parents to customize a ring he held on to from when we were teenagers and he wanted to propose. 😊

He asked me to go shopping with him and I kept pointing out styles I liked. He kept asking me to pick a specific one so I narrowed it down to 2 very similar ones and for the next week he hounded me about which one was my favorite so I finally gave in and told him. Lol he went and got it and didn’t propose till 9 months later.

I picked my ring out myself! Smiley laugh my FH has absolutely no style sense, plus I really didn't want a diamond or anything crazy extravagant. We also got engaged together! No surprise proposal, and we're completely ok with it. We went to the store together to try on the ring I had picked out online, but it was 'online only.' So I tried on other similar rings, but we ended up ordering the original one I had picked. It arrived at the jewelry store a week later, and he put it on my finger.

We went together to a bunch of different jewelry stores to look. FH wanted to know if I wanted anything specifically. I was trying on modest rings and he pointed to one and asked me to try it on. It was astonishing. Much more than I'd ever imagined, not even the cut I thought I liked. But he said it looked beautiful and told me that the style reminded him of me with some super cute heartfelt details. ❤ I told him he did -not- have to spend that much but it was certainly beautiful. We left after trying others on as well.
Well unbeknownst to me he went back and got all the details, saved up money, and then purchased it in May of last year. Proposed in July at the beach in Galveston. I absolutely love it. Mostly because of the thought and feeling he put into it.

My proposal was a complete surprise! FH & I never discussed rings, let alone looked at them. He only knew that I’m against diamonds for ethical & environmental reasons (I sometimes rant about diamond industry on social media haha) & that I love moissanite jewelry. I never told him my ring size, so he secretly measured my rings when I wasn’t around. He custom designed an amazing, one of a kind ring with his friend who is jewelry designer & I’m still blown away by how perfect my ring is 😍 I’m a hopeless romantic, so the amount of effort, thought & planning he put into the ring & proposal just makes me appreciate him even more!

Traditional - he picked it out by himself and surprised the heck out of me when he proposed!

Shane Co gives 60 days to exchange, and he was soo nervous I wouldn't like the ring and told me like 3 times we could return it and pick a different one. But I absolutely love it, especially because it's what he picked, it means so much to me!
