Modern. He took me to look and we picked out a couple together. One was an oval and the other was a pear and he asked which one I liked the best and I picked the pear which was his favorite too. That's what he ended up getting and when it came to the proposal it was still a surprise and very special. I think it was fun getting to go together and pick the ring out as a couple. We both have the same style in everything.

Modern. We picked out the ring together, bought it from Etsy instead of brick-and-mortar jewelry store, and it's not a diamond.

Modern. We designed the ring together. We used diamonds that belonged to each of my grandmothers. This meant so much more to me than letting him spend thousands and thousands on a ring I might not even like.

We picked together. Smiley smile FH proposed with a loose stone in a little baggie haha. The stone was from his mother's engagement ring, and had come loose many years ago. We went to the jeweler together, picked a setting, and had the stone set that day while we waited at a nearby restaurant. It was perfect!

I picked it out, but that was my only involvement. I didn't know when he purchased it.

    Traditional!

I had no idea what I wanted so I just told him I didn't want a sharp shape LOL (square or pear) in case it would snag on things. But otherwise, I'm good with whatever.

He ended up designing the ring himself with our jeweler and he knocked it out of the park.

A bit of a mix? FH asked me what kind of ring I would like and I told him labradorite. Otherwise, he handled the rest.

Kind of a mix I guess. He knew what I liked, but he did the shopping himself.

We went together to look at rings and discuss options. I listed a lot of things i liked, with the hope he would incorporate one or two. He listened to every thing I liked and incorporated it all. So I say he designed the ring because I gave him options, but he says he made no decisions LOL

Traditional! He went to his dad's store and picked from a bunch of settings! Took him almost an hour because he didn't think any of them were exactly right!

We went together to shop for the ring. I wanted a say in the thing that went on my hand every day for the rest of my life.

Modern. He proposed with a family ring, but we found someone to custom design the ring using the stone from his family ring (at his family's encouragement). So I got to meet with the jeweler to make it exactly what I wanted!

Modern: I had sent him a picture here and there, but ultimately we went to pick it out together. TBH I don't trust his taste when it comes to picking clothing/accessories for me, and while I try not let it be an issue I could not risk it with my engagement ring. Maybe that makes me a brat, but when you spend so much time imagining this perfect, once in a lifetime moment, I just needed to know the part I keep forever was going to be perfect.

I guess a mix. I told him I didn't want the same type of ring everyone was getting at the time we talked about it. I also told him no yellow gold and it couldn't have CZ, however, I didn't care the gem otherwise. Other than that, it was a surprise, he created a custom ring and I think it's so beautiful. He did a great job!

Kind of a mix? We went together but while I was looking at one end of the counter my FH found the ring on the other and I just loved 😊

Traditional - I 100% believe that the ring is supposed to be a physical part of the gesture, not some super expensive ring that I pick out for myself. My proposal was a complete surprise and I love that. And I love that he somehow knew I don't believe in engagement rings and got me a $10 silver mermaid fin ring to seal the deal. For me, it was perfect and I wouldn't change a thing.

My FH chose my engagement ring. For years, we spoke of what I was interested in and he shared his likes. My ring is 100% his decision!Smiley smile

So I did pick the style of my ring and I thought I picked my actual ring but my fiancé surprised me with a totally different ring and way prettier! But I still got a round cut as requested
