Ring Shopping: Modern or Traditional?

Traditional. My fiancé picked my engagement ring out, it was a surprise

Picked out together and I love my ring! He was thinking solitaire which is beautiful, but a little plain for my taste. However, if that's what he chose on his own I would have loved it.

Mostly traditional. She only asked me my favorite stone (we both didnt want a diamond and prefer colored stones) and I gave her my top 3, then she asked if I preferred white or yellow gold, and tried to sneakily measure my finger (I ended up telling her my size) and then she designed it herself with a jeweler and surprised me with how it looked (and when she proposed) but I knew she had it because I was the one home to sign for the delivery (I was really good and didnt try to sneak a peek).

Traditional. I was completely surprised but we were dating for 7 years before we got engaged so i have sent pictures to him of what i liked

He picked it out and surprised me. I absolutely love it!

We went to try some on because I had no idea what I would want... he ended up designing his own very similar to the things I said I had liked and I loved it. I can’t imagine not having an input in something you have to wear for the rest of your life! I oftentimes don’t trust him to pick out clothes to wear 😜 kidding, kind of.

We both believe that an engagement ring is a gift from the one who is proposing.
It was a total surprise. The ring and the proposal.

I did. Found it online, shared it with friends... My MOH finally just sent him the link, saying, "HERE. BUY THIS."

He did, lol, but never told her.

Modern - I was involved and told him I wanted rose gold and a moissanite, not a diamond. He picked the rest, but it wasn't a surprise to me because I knew what his taste was like

Modern, we went shopping, he pointed one out, I tried it on and fell in love, it was saved to his profile. 1 1/2 yrs later he proposed

Modern. We went to the mall and he said let’s go in here (meaning the jewelry store). I was like ok because we have gone to jewelry stores before looking for rings. We went in and he talked to a representative about getting a ring. Once he received the info, he said to me “go pick out the ring you want”. And I did and that’s how I ended up getting my engagement ring.

Traditional! I was completely surprised!

It was a mixture, we were looking around so he could get a feel for what I like. I also sent him some ideas of what I liked. But he went out and picked the ring all by himself

Modern- while I had no say on my engagement ring, since it was a surprise, he made it very clear that he was calling it a “placeholder” so we could go shopping and get whatever ring I wanted. Once the wedding date was set, we went shopping for rings and I got a new e-ring along with the wedding band. I got to keep my placeholder too, which I love and will always be very special.

Traditional, a complete surprise with no previous discussion. And a perfect choice, not a diamond I would never have worn.

We went together and designed it. It was really fun, romantic and I felt like a princess. ❤
