My FH picked it out himself. We never talked about rings, styles, etc and I wanted to see what he would pick. Our friend is a jeweler and he FaceTimed my sister when picking it out, so he was in good hands 😊

It was a surprise. I knew he would propose in the next 6-8 months, but he woke up one day and decided that was the day and picked out the ring, planned a surprise night out with our friends, and asked my parents. It was the best night and so much fun!!

We wanted simple, coordinated rings so we bought all three (my engagement, both wedding) from the same seller on Etsy. Titanium with blue/green stones. We picked them out together.

    Modern! Smiley ring

    He had it custom-made!

He told me I wasn't getting a diamond. I said, "Good! Get me a sapphire, ruby, Opal, etc." Smiley laugh

I recieved a fully custom ring with a blue sapphire! Smiley kiss

I'm picking my own engagement ring, but it'll likely be a long time before I get it, our budget is really tight at the moment.

More traditional. I had shown FH rings I liked but he chose the ring himself.

Modern. I mean I to start with was just pushing my best friend to give him some hints, but he ended up having me pick the exact ring I wanted.

We picked out, designed, and discussed all of our rings together. My engagement and wedding ring, and his wedding band. Smiley smile

My FH and I had conversations about rings. He showed me ones he liked and honestly I hated the styles - they weren't me and were a bit too funky/untraditional. I think if we women, etc are going to wear them for our whole lives, we should get a say in the details. Also modern couples are going for nontraditional stones and styles to cut costs for affordability reasons. It wouldn't make sense financially if we purchased my dream ring at $8k. We did research together for months. Ultimately - he proposed on NYE without a ring, but we were already talking about one for weeks. I figured out 3 options for rings I liked, then he and I decided on one together a week later. No regrets in being a part of the process. Every big decision made should be as a couple.

It will be modern and traditional. He wants my input on my ring, but he trusted me to choose his on my own.

I told him I didn’t want a diamond, I love delicate details, And that I like square/cushion cut stones. He took that and had my best friend approve the ring before he got it…. And she sent it to me in secret to approve it before she approved it to him lol. He still doesn’t know about that. 😅

Traditional. But he knows my taste well, so he picked out the perfect one. And no, that is not bridal bias, it is very much my taste and I'm obsessed with it.
