Plus size or full figured brides, let's see those gowns!

I'm a street size 18-22 depending on day/designer. LOL I am SOOOOO nervous about dress shopping. I am in love with Maggie Sottero and really like Allure and Essence of Australia dresses, too. But I'm open to anything that will be ultra flattering. So, lovely brides and brides to be ... show me what...

Here is mine. I purchased a size 24, and still fits even after I purchased it, but I need to get back into my workout and diet mode, gained a few pounds, and do not want to spend too much for alterations, even though I know it will be in the bust area and in the straps. I love all the dresses ladies, especially Ozella's dress, I love the sparkle!

I bought a 16 but should have bought an 18 as the girls were just spilling over and the back fat was too evident for my taste so don't worry about getting a larger size - I highly recommend that so you have "wiggle" room LOL!

What I did love was how the corset back gave me a curvy figure rather than the rectangle I normally am.

Try on EVERYTHING! I went into dress shopping with my no list (no corset, not strapless,, not white, no train, no veil) and walked out with a dress that had all of those and it was the perfect dress for me.

OK... so I must be the odd one... I am a street size 22 (most often) but my dress is a 20

@Steph... that was the dress I was going to wear in my head.... had even planned on it, abut the second time I tried it on (with other people with me) it was only ok on my body type. found this one and it was PERFECT.. everyone said even my attitude changed.... guess you never know.

This is an alfred angelo dress I LOVE IT ! I can't wait to wear it. I actually didn't want to take it off the day I picked it out. My biggest problem is my boobs and this held them in perfectly

YOu all look lovely - thanks for sharing! And sorry it took so long for me to reply. I've been shoveling out all day after getting nearly 3 feet of snow! ;-) Keep the photos coming. I am SOOOOO in love with Maggie dresses, but there's no way I can afford that. I just want something flattering -- that's really my only must have. And of course I worry. But seeing how gorgeous you all are really helps!

The sizes are really weird...I'm a street size 22 and my dress was a size 16. I wasn't going to complain about it being smaller than what I normally am! It's an Alfred Angelo style # 2225 Don't mind how tired I look, was recovering from 12 hours of traveling with a toddler and running off of 2 hours of sleep.

This is the one I got. I got a 16, but ended up taking it in about an inch on each side. They wanted me to get a 14, but I didn't think I could pull it off. I just picked it up Friday after my final fitting. I love it!

    So pretty everyone!

Arzel I almost bought that dress! It is SO pretty! It was my top pick until I finally found the one lace dress they had in the store lol.

I dont have the right slip or right size in these pics, but its close enough Smiley smile Pic quality is from FH cell phone so it looks kinda..dark lol.

BTW I wear a size 18 in street clothes usually and this is a size 20 something. I dont actually remember if it is a 20 or a 22.

I would advise trying DB for plus sizes. I walked in without an appointment and they had over a dozen dresses I tried on. They had many more in my size, those were just the ones I picked. I had a not so great experience at a smaller salon where I told them my size and they said, ok well pull what you want to try on. The closest they had was a 14 and one 16. Most of the stuff was in the 6-10 range. They totally blew me off I guess because of my size and it wasnt the best experience Smiley sad So call ahead and make sure they have your size!

I think I"m going next weekend for "preshopping." Basically, just want to get an idea what's out there. Then, I want to get back down to the size I was a year or so ago and buy the dress this summer. :-) HOw long did it take for all of your dresses to arrive? I've heard such a range of deadlines -- from 5 months to a whole year!

I don't have a picture of my dress.. sorry! But I'm a size 14/16 and was usually a size 16 in bridal gowns. When measured (after losing 20 lbs - yay!) they told me I was between a 14 or 16 and we ended up buying an 18. My aunt is a seamstress and we are sort of re-working the shape of my skirt.. it's intended to be sort of fitted and flare at the waist, but I wanted it more a-line so I wouldn't feel so self-conscious. It's a lot of work.. my aunt is amazing!

But since you seem a little nervous I will share my overall feeling about dress shopping: I thought I would absolutely HATE it! I was dreading it and put it off as long as possible (about 6 months before our wedding). I was convinced that I wouldn't find anything that I liked on my body and was certain that I would spend a whole day ruining my confidence and end up devastated and depressed. I was having anxiety about going, but obviously I had to.. and I brought a big group (10 people) with me. Everyone was super supportive about

Shapes and styles on my body! We went to two bridal shops and then DB as well. I found 3 dresses that I absolutely loved.. a fourth dress was also beautiful, just not really what I wanted. I looked beautiful and the dresses looked great, which was shocking to me! Bridal gowns are made so much differently than regular dresses and they also get altered to be perfect, so if you're self conscious AT ALL, please try not to be, because there are so many beautiful dresses that will be gorgeous on our shapes! Smiley smile

My gown in an Allure gown.. if you're worried at all about them having enough dresses in your size to try on, just give them a call and ask. That's what I did beforehand! I didn't want to go to a place to found out they only carried up to a size 12 and only had 3 of those anyway!

Best of luck to you! Can't wait to hear that you've found your dress! Smiley smile

My street size is a 14. When I first went in they didn't have my dress in the store in a size that I could try on and they ordered me a size 20 (What I'm wearing in the pics) When it came it it was already a whole size or more too big and since I'm doing a new diet and have already lost about 12lbs they went ahead and ordered an 18 for me since it can only be altered down two sizes if I keep losing weight.

Wow I thought I posted here. Here is my dress. I am wearing it w/o a slip because I don't like the way it drapes with one. The first pic is without the slip and the 2nd one is with one.
