Plus size or full figured brides, let's see those gowns!

I'm a street size 18-22 depending on day/designer. LOL I am SOOOOO nervous about dress shopping. I am in love with Maggie Sottero and really like Allure and Essence of Australia dresses, too. But I'm open to anything that will be ultra flattering. So, lovely brides and brides to be ... show me what...

Also, I'm in NH, so if anyone has suggestions for great places to go, let me know! Thanks!

@MrsJackie: Hi! Good news: Overall, it was great! i am NOT happy with my body, but even so, I found a couple of dresses that I felt pretty in. David's Bridal was actually pretty fun -- as long as you have a friend who can help get you in and out of the dresses. Our consultant wasn't in the room with me even once, but frankly, I liked it better that way, and she let me try on a ton of gowns. The OTHER store I went to was different. It was more upscale, and I found a gown I REALLY loved, but it was $1,200, and I ido NOT trust the store because I'm pretty sure they lied to me about the designer/style, to manipulate me and also was reluctant to get me a veil b/c i wasn't committing to the gown. See this thread for the full story: https://www.weddingwire.com/wedding-forums/help-worried-bridal-store-is-lying-have-you-seen-this-dress-pics/44d572b80f9ebf3d.html?page=1 (photos)

So that's the good news and bad. :-) Go for it... I think it's great motivation, and also an anxiety reliever

@MrsJackie: Here a a couple more photos for you. The first photos (in the previous comment) were the expensive dress. It was VERY flattering at the waist, and I loved it for that reason. You could also tell the difference in construction/fabrics from the David's Bridal dresses. BUT -- as my friend said, "Is the difference worth $500 to you?" I don't know. The third pic in the comment above is a dress that worked GREAT up top, but I hated the skirt. And the pics in THIS comment are our favorite gown from DB, with a couple sash choices. Truthfully, this is the gown I am likely to buy. It's in my price range and it's flattering. With the right jewelry and sash, it'll be very nice. (See??? We CAN "shop" together! --wink--)

Wonder why this isn't showing up at the top of the forum list? Hope you see my response, Mrs. Jackie! :-)

@Desiree: I noticed the post wasn't showing up at the top in the posts either so I was just checking back for a response. ;-)

Thanks for the visuals! Totally agree on the skirt on that one dress. We have very similar body types you and I. Holy crap are you gorgeous though!

I completely understand the top and bottom fit and even if it's not the same fit as the one from the expensive shop maybe some super duper undergarments can recreate that feeling you get in a designer gown. ;-) At least that's what I'm hoping for because I'm keeping my dress budget on the lower end.

I love the DB gown you have on in the last post and I'm all for adding sashes and jewelry to complete the look. I like how while it's strapless it still comes up high enough to cover the girls. I've had that nightmare too.

I'm going to try to get out and shop in the next couple of months just to see what's out there. I will post pics for you so we can continue our online shopping trip together! :-)

@MrsJackie -- You are the SWEETEST! And I understand about the budget. I'm struggling with that, too. I'm hoping losing some weight will help and also some good undergarments -- as it's true what they say -- designer gowns ARE better at giving you a shape you never knew you had, while DB dresses don't quite hit that mark. I wasn't wearing anything special on this day in terms of undergarments. One thing: Putting on the veil is sort of an amazing transformative moment. Definitely do it! I can't wait to see photos you post! Now I want you to go SOON! ;-)

This my dress. It's from Alfred Angelo. I'm usually a 18-20. 16 if its stretch material. I ordered it in a size 22 because of my large chest lol. But when I tried it on while I was getting fitted for my bra I had a lot of space in the back so I may have to get it taken in or reorder in a 18 or 20! I am happy about the weight lost but I still don't love how my arms look. So I am working on those and my tummy. I go for my first dress fitting on march 19th so I have a little more time to loose some more and tone up. I am very excited for our wedding day we are 93 days away!!! Yay for may 2013 brides and all of 2013 and on forward brides! Especially my plus size ladies!!! We are gonna work it!!! In the pic was when I first tried in on in the store last January without a bra or anything holding me in. The dress in the pic is a size 20. Like I said I ordered it in a 22 because of my 40 DDs smh!!!
