We’re very excited to announce that the Rockstar program is back! Rockstars are leaders of our Community who work hard to welcome new members, start interesting discussions, and answer member questions. They also have special powers to help them keep the Community organized, for example moving discussions to the correct group, quickly removing spam, and locking discussions if needed. Rest assured, Rockstars don’t have access to any member’s private information. Rockstars feature a blue and white star on their profile picture so you know who they are.

Of course, we have to thank everyone who took the time to complete our Rockstar survey in 2017 and gave us feedback to help shape the program today. We’re very excited to share this news with you and answer any questions.

I'm sorry you feel that way, but we know that feedback can be both blunt and delivered with respect. Give our Rockstars the chance to show that they have their own thoughts, opinions, experiences, and advice which they can articulate well while also being welcoming and positive.

Rockstars will never be able to view private profiles and will never be able to view the private information of any user.

And yes, Rockstars are Rockstars of the whole community, including local groups.

Unless it’s changed, it’s a volunteer thing, not a compensated position. It’s basically because WW doesn’t actually hire people to solely moderate the boards.

I doubt rolling it out now is going to be any different than in the past. They don’t have many more abilities than they did before, and they basically became a useless entity.

Sorry, I should've been more specific. Will the settings be adjusted so that we can view their profiles like we can administrators?

Now anytime we disagree or are honest, we’re automatically “rude”, “mean” and “horrible people”.... i miss old WW, where would could be honest, and it not spiral into OP getting upset and insulting us.. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Theres posts that need honest advice and opinions. We can’t even do that anymore because the way the new forums are. It all has to be positive and supportive. Being supportive is also letting s user know some ideas won’t work, or are rude for guests...

Hey Kristina! We'll be adding new Rockstars periodically - probably every few months!

No, Rockstars are not moderators and are not paid. Rockstars can close discussions, move discussions, modify titles, and they can more quickly remove spam.

They cannot review flags, they cannot remove any discussion or comment from the forums, they cannot send warning email, and they cannot ban anyone from the community.

Think of their abilities as organizational tools, not moderation

What is cake-balled? I love the term even though I am not clear on it's meaning! lol

Yes. We're giving our new group some time to adjust, but as a Rockstar you will need to at least open your profile up to WW users only (aka no private profile). If anyone is not comfortable doing that - no problem! They can keep the private profile and just won't be a Rockstar. There are no hard feelings, just having a visible profile helps people get to know each other and engage in each other's discussions!

Yes, it was determined that in order to improve "community", these changes were needed, which led to the banning of many regular, and knowledgeable, contributors - many of which had formed lasting friendships with other users, new and otherwise. Now, that's gone. Ironic, isn't it?

When a post had been hidden or taken down there is a warning screen that says something along the lines of "oh cakeballs, what you're looking for isn't here" or something to that effect. Hence, a thread being "cake-balled"

It also lead to the change of Vendor's no longer being able to participate in discussions and making some married members of the community feel unwelcome since the forums are now dedicated to "wedding planning only related topics"

I'm actually not at all mad about vendors not being able to comment. I was not a fan of some that regularly did lol. One in particular, who seemed to hate all things wedding.

Having the ability for photographers to comment on posts about photography and florists about flowers was really helpful for me personally. Seems ridiculous that their expertise is no longer welcomed.

LOL No I get it. You can't love everyone. But it was especially helpful from some of the photographers!

And we want you to be free to share honest advice and opinions. When we see someone fighting back with name calling we remove it, any instances where you're called rude or horrible people are taken down and we send warnings. You absolutely need to be able to give respectful but honest and frank feedback so we moderate to remove any time someone fires back at you in that way. Calling others rude or horrible people is a CG violation.
