NWR How illegal is doping your children up on nyquil so theyll go to bed when you want them to?

Tiggopotomus, on March 21, 2011 at 11:20 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 33

Nuff said. Its freezing and I want them to go to bed and rest so they don't catch what everybody else is getting but the won't go to sleep. I've got nightlights, wsarm jammies, soft music, hugs, kisses, bedtime stories... what tricks do you moms have?

My trick is rubbing my baby's back. She isn't a baby anymore, BUT she's my baby. I also have a book to read to her and see if she is up for some book time. I only ever use motrin btw (not to put her to sleep, but in general lol) Tylenol doesn't help and gets recalled all the time.

I'm not a mom so I have no tricks but I was a kid not to long ago, I say threaten them. Lol well, my mom's tactics probably aren't the best. I just wanted to comment because the title of this post had me laughing my a** off. Good luck with the kiddos. And btw, just a little ny'quil couldn't hurt...right? Smiley smile

Very illegal! Cuddle up with them and watch their favorite movie until they fall asleep?

    Tried bath before jammies.

The tv thing isn't really something I'm cool with but its a great suggestion!

And I'm saying... like a felony? Or like a slap on the wrist?

Btw... I would never do or advocate such a thing... it was just an absent way of titling a thread.

Shoot, in the 1970s parents would pop a little whiskey in a baby, or make a child over 10 drink some screwdriver. lol

My mom would give me hot toddys when I was sick. (Hot water with honey, lemon juice & whiskey or brandy). It would make my throat feel better and knock me out to get some good sleep. I still drink them when I'm sick.

My sister talked to her kids Dr and he said half a melatonin would be ok its something we already have. My nephew would scream and throw fits if he sleeps anywhere but home. A melatonin pill is 3mg so half is really nothing. But my sis is a nurse and talked to the dr so hopefully its all good Smiley winking

It's not "Illegal" as much as it is really just immoral? Perhaps? I don't know.

Hopefully they are asleep by now. Otherwise just do story time and lights out or cuddle time, whathaveyou, and hopefully they fall asleep. I just rock my lil lady. About 10 minutes she is always asleep. Regardless if she is tired.
