NWR How illegal is doping your children up on nyquil so theyll go to bed when you want them to?

Nuff said. Its freezing and I want them to go to bed and rest so they don't catch what everybody else is getting but the won't go to sleep. I've got nightlights, wsarm jammies, soft music, hugs, kisses, bedtime stories... what tricks do you moms have?

Let's think of it more like, assisted sleeping. Drugging is such a harsh word. Smiley tongue

LOL I love the thread title! Have you tried laying down with em? That used to work for my older 2. Smiley smile

As a side note: Not that I would suggest benadryl or nyquil for children, BUT when my daughter was an infant (8 years ago) and we went on a plane trip, I was instructed by our pediatrician to give her benadryl. Worked like charm. So I doubt it's illegal. Smiley tongue

Hahaha, lmao at the title! My second shooter, aka bf, always suggests a little Benedryl when he comes in town. In all my years of being a mom, I will say, I've never resorted to that, but I just had to laugh at this title.

You need to have to start a routine ... do the story and what not then lights out leave the room and if you are just starting then you will need to put them back to bed many times and when you do that ... dont linger in the room just back to bed and leave then in a week or two they will stay in bed ... my daughter will sit in the dark and talk to her self until she falls asleep but she never gets out of bed ..

Nyquil is addicting, as it contains alcohol, but rubitussin isn't. Smiley smile

LMAO, sorry, don't have kids but I have to admit that I've let my little brother soaked in bottle of honey from the fridge so he could sleep it off and leave me alone to study when I was back in HS. Also, giving him a nice bath would usually work

Definitely try the melatonin! I have a very ADHD adopted sibling that my parents were instructed, for his good and theirs, to start implementing melatonin into his daily realm of evening pills. He would fall asleep around 11p-1am and then be back up around 6-sometimes earlier. This helped him tremendously. I would not recommend using the Nyquil, or Benedryl as a remedy-at all. The children will become addicted, just like an adult can to any drug. Best of luck to you, Tiffany!
